He could have simply signed in the offseason and the team he'd be joining wouldn't be so decimated.

Rosas is scaring me

To be fair, he comes from the school of "just get a superstar or two" and everything will work out. That's not necessarily a bad take. There's a precedent there.

As for Russell, again... I don't know if he can be that Harden-esque talent eventually. But there does seem to be progressive improvement. I read where he's taking more (and different types) of three pointers this season while improving his efficiency. And, he's getting to the line more. Defense is bad... but that team is pretty awful. Has he gotten worse... or simply has worse teammates?

I'd be more scared if a young guy like him DIDN'T show obvious signs (and stats) of improvement in the first few years.

Well let's be honest, he didn't exactly come from an organization known for getting it done in the playoffs. In fact they were always built to fail when it matters most. How much hope should we have with this guy?

He also didn't come from a situation where they relied primarily on the draft to get things done. That's a recipe for disaster for a team whose only main currency is the draft.

That is fair. From the beginning I have been on the fence with Dlo, so Im going to be nervous until Rosas shows me his is competent. Im just a little nervous.

To be fair, they did lose to the Warriors a couple of times... and once after getting a series lead only to see Chris Paul go down with an injury.

Granted, I think the strain that "set system" puts on Harden (or relies on Harden) does put a bit of a ceiling on things...

They were a game away from making the NBA finals and their 2nd best player got hurt. They have lost to the Warriors multiple times where they are arguably the best team of all time. I would take what the Rockets have done over almost any team in the NBA. Now I don't know how much we can trust Rosas but Im not going to disrespect the Rockets when they have probably been the 2nd best team in the NBA for the last 4ish years.

They're sorta the Suns from a decade earlier.

Some consider the Nash-led Suns to be failures for not making the Finals. They were the league's 2nd best team multiple times... simply losing to better teams. Other times, suffering from bad injury luck (or commissioner directives).

Scares me too. That would be a typical Wolves front office move - trading away valuable picks and players for an big uncertainty. DLO isn't that good.

Maybe. Maybe not.

Historically speaking... those picks are less "valuable" than we've been lead to believe. In that way, I'd say that the typical Wolves front office move is tanking games to get those valuable picks and then asking the fanbase to be patient with them as they nurture those valuable picks.

Only to have a new regime come in and say those previous valuable picks are worthless. But THIS time... they're going to take advantage of those valuable picks.

Does a Cov for Dinwiddie trade make too much sense?

I generally agree with you. The value of 1st round picks as trade assets tends to exceed the value of the players taken with those picks in general. All the more reason to accumulate more of them by the trade deadline and then make the best use of them on draft day rather than zero in on DLO and make a less than optimal deal now. Moreover, trading a high lottery pick like the Wolves are likely to have should command a bona fide star, which DLO isn't. The Wolves should wait to see what pick they end up with before making any deals. And they should accumulate more first round picks in exchange for Covington and perhaps Wiggins in the meantime. That's what the better organizations generally do.
