It's not Tibs' fault. Look what New Orleans is doing now.
Ricky has proven that you can win with a PG who doesn't look to score...rather, what we have learned is you can't win with a SF with average handles running the point in the second half. Thibs needs to read what the definition of insanity is.
I need more context for the part in bold before I respond. Please.
Rubio was great in the 3rd quarter, That's probably the reason we didn't have our patented 3rd Q meltdown. In the 4th the game plan was changed and we paid the price.
So please be more specific when you talk about the 2nd half and don't try to push your usual agenda. And he wasn't even that great in the first half, maybe only a few minutes at the end of 2nd quater.
Thankfully there's internet to call you out on your lies

Wig handles the ball a handful of times every game, and for the most part it's been very successful. Especially when the defense presses down against us late in games. The Celtics game was an aberration to what we have seen for the most part. But it's not like Wig becomes the PG in the 2nd half. Doesn't happen.

My context is merely an observation unencumbered by facts (that's when I'm at my best :) ). My observation is that the Wolves build big leads in first halves with Ricky leading the offense and Wig generally playing off the ball. This tells me that if Thibs would continue to let Ricky run the show, rather than oddly having Wig bring the ball up and set the offense as so often happens in the second half, the Wolves have enough fire power to win even without Ricky scoring. Maybe someone smarter than me can provide some data to support my eye test...or maybe not.

Oh. I was going more by the previous 5 years. I'm not saying you can't win with Rubio. Only that it's not proven they can.
The Wolves have not won with Rubio for 5+ years now. His fault or not...

Yep, my comment looks absurd in the context of the past 5 years. But the offense looks very good to me this year when Rubio is in charge
This trend unfortunately is something that's not exclusively to this year. We blew big leads last year consistently. I remember the Atlanta game specifically from last year. We had nearly a 30 pt lead and lost lead but eventually won the game. The year we won 40 games 3 years ago, the 4th quarter was a complete disaster the entire year. It was so bad Adelman went back and fourth about using Rubio in the 4th.
The game is played so differently in the 2nd half. People love Rubio on this board that's fine. He hasn't proven anything to me. I don't get how a PnR can be very successsful when you literally don't have to guard one of the players. Puts a lot of pressure on the big who is on the receiving end when the other guy doesn't need to legitimately be defended
Watch closely how the defense defends Rubio, specifically in the 2nd half tonight. They don't, creates a lot of spacing issues with our offense.
With that said I think the majority of our problem is mainly youth. It takes time to win in the NBA, they will figure it out in my opinion. Porkchop said it well in a recent post. These guys, mainly the core three are all still figuring out how to play together. Majority of this team has had a new coach every year of their young NBA career, difficult situation.

I'm not buying your premise, Duke. First, we all remember that Atlanta game. But the difference between that game and this year's collapses as that we had enough left in the tank to actually win that game after blowing a big lead...that hasn't happened yet this year. Next, you say we blew leads last year consistently...actually there were only 4 games all year where we led by more than 10 at a quarter end and eventually lost. That's FOUR...and one of those was the emotional first home game after Flip died where we came out smoking but had nothing left in the tank in the second half (hmm...sound familiar?). Already this year we have eclipsed last year's total with FIVE blown leads greater than 10, and it's not even December yet! Any attempt to compare the way this year's club is losing to last year is pure folly.
