This is second big win where Zach was out, Maybe there is a lesson there

This is my least favorite thread of the season. The team plays like they should on both ends of the floor, several players step up, and they win some games. Those players stepping up (Towns, Rubio, Rush, Muhammad, and Bjelica) deserve to be praised for their recent production. Instead, some are questioning the impact of a player that was forced to watch from the sideline and suggesting his role be altered. Is this why we can't have nice things in Minnesota?

Cam, there is one person suggesting his role should be altered. Heck, this is nothing compared to some of the bickering about Wiggins or Rubio. At least with those, the "Fors" and "Againsts" - to put it simplistically - is a bit more balanced!

I love what Rush has brought to the team. Whether our wins the last three games have much or anything to do with Rush replacing LaVine is impossible to know and hard to assess. But taking the long view and considering how well Zach has played thus far this season, no question I'd re-insert Zach into the starting lineup as soon as he's healthy. And I have no doubt that's exactly what Thibs will do. At the same time, I hope we see more minutes from Rush off the bench upon Zach's return. I don't know where those minutes will come from, the could come in part from playing Zach and Andrew 35 rather than 40 minutes.
Another word about Zach. I love watching Zach on the court, but I've also enjoyed watching him on the bench these past couple games. He's the first guy off the bench to greet his teammates during timeouts. Last night Dunn was hanging his head a bit after making a mistake and LaVine came up to him during the timeout, patted him on the chest and gave him a pep talk. I've seen him do that sort of thing before on and off the court when he's playing. He's vocal and he's always positive. As my wife said last night, he's a great teammate.

Rush has played well that's more like what we expected out of him than the injured mostly in effective player we have seen before this stretch of games. I'll say again if Lavine had put up numbers like Rush had everyone would be plenty happy in a win. Like Cam said guys stepped up that's what good teams have. I do agree there is no reason to rush Zach back. Thibs will have to figure out how to get Rush some minutes one way or another. My guess is he goes with a small lineup more putting a wing player like Bazz as a PF like he has more recently.
