Of course they would take an unprotected 1st from the worst franchise in basketball history. Unfortunately we can't offer one to transfer over until 2019 because of the Payne trade.
Actually, we can't trade a 1st round pick in advance before 2020 at the earliest because our 1st rounder in the Payne deal comes due in 2018. But even then, it's lottery protected so if we continue to suck in 2018 the pick wouldn't be due until 2019, pushing to 2021 the date we could give up another first. Fact is, we won't be trading any future 1st at this point unless its a draft day deal where we make the pick and package it.
As for Dragic, he just doesn't do it for me. We need defense and he's a defensive downgrade from Ricky and an even bigger downgrade from Dunn over the long term. And it's 30 years old, which means he'll start to decline when our core three start to hit their prime. I might have some interest in dealing Ricky or Dunn for Dragic if we were on pace to win 40-45 games this season. But we're on pace to win fewer games than last season!! Therefore, this franchise still has to take the long term view.
I continue to believe we should refrain from trading any of our current players until next summer except for Payne, Bazz, Belly, Aldrich, Rush, Jones or Hill. Unfortunately, I don't see us getting anything of value for any of those guys or any combination. And we can't combine them with a future 1st before 2020. As for combining them with second round picks, last I looked we don't have many because we've already dealt a bunch of our future seconds.
Bottom line is that we're going to have to ride out the rest of this season with our current roster and, when it comes to what I consider our core players - KAT, Zach, Andrew, Ricky and Gorgui - I think that's the right thing unless by some miracle the Bucks agree to swap Giannis for Andrew
