Zero chance of that
Man, finally we get a good young team and people want to blow it up before it even begins

I guarantee that Wiggins value will only go higher in the next few years.

Here's a list of players the Wolves absolutely positively will not trade anytime this season:
KAT
LaVine
Wiggins
Dieng
Ricky
Belly
Dunn
Thibs loves all these guys and they're playing well together so far. KAT, LaVine and Wiggins are the young core that brought Thibs here in the first place. Dieng, Ricky and Belly were also part of the attraction and they are all Thibs type players -- smart, talented and serious. Dunn was Thibs' pick and he's also Thibs' kind of guy.
Guys Thibs might trade who might have some value are Bazz and Tyus. Payne has no trade value. So that's it.
I would see the Wolves getting a medical exception for Pek and cutting Payne and then using those two roster spots to sign a couple free agents in the next week. A Bazz trade could also happen, but I see it as more likely around the Feb. deadline. Otherwise, I think the organization rolls with the current group and I still see a 45-50 win team if the key guys stay healthy.

Just to be clear I'm not saying Wiggins is going to be traded but in the same way someone suggested that Dunn's value is at a peak, Wiggins may never be as good as everyone predicts and if offered an all star still in his prime I would consider the possibility of a trade.

Good post Lip. In the front office insider article I posted earlier it said a number of teams couldn't get the injury exception for a couple weeks or something so maybe the wolves can't get it from the beginning of the season. I'm not sure of the reasons why for that but at some point relatively soon they could add somebody with his spot of they want to.

It is interesting how Rush has seamlessly stepped in over the last two pre-season games and our starting unit hasn't missed a beat. What happens is KAT and LaVine get more shots while Rush spaces the floor and gives everyone more room to operate.
I think where we'll really need Wiggins is on wing defense. As much as I rail on him for not accumulating more "do shit" stats (rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, charges taken), if he can become a shutdown defender on the wing, that will be huge. But if his defense is inconsistent, then all he is is a volume scorer, which we can kind of cover for with Towns, LaVine, and Shabazz when Wiggins is out.

If he's not getting better defensively... and doesn't expand other parts of his game offensively...
... what else would he be? That's not to say those things will happen. But it's not like Wiggins is a well-rounded player right now. He can score but he needs volume to do so.

Has anybody ever said that on this forum?
Definitely not in this thread.
