There are gonna be trades. Who's gonna go?
We have a healthy Tyus Jones thread already. Obviously, he might be a candidate. With a new regime -- a powerful one with a very pointed way of doing things -- it's unlikely this team goes very long without making a splash with a trade.
I just read that the Wolves have been inquiring about Iman Shumpert for awhile now. I'd expect any trade would be around that level and would avoid breaking up the young core. That being said... which Wolves players are most likely to be playing elsewhere in the next few months (or sooner)?
Tyus Jones. 3rd/4th PG on a team with 4 PGs. Offers some young value for other teams.
Shabazz Muhammad. Mercurial, me-first scorer who is sort of without a position.
Gorgui Dieng. Starting PF who's improved. But facing HUGE pay raise. Just how much does Thibs dig him?
Adrien Payne. Sure. But who'd want him?
Nemanja Bjelica. Shown bits of promise. Should improve. But is he the TYPE of player Thibs digs?
Ricky Rubio. We've been through it. Helps team. Good player. But a very polarizing player. And that will always leave him susceptible for trades.

Re: There are gonna be trades. Who's gonna go?
Good topic. I agree with your thinking that some changes are likely considering the new regime hasn't changed much yet from the Sam Mitchell era. Your list is interesting and I agree with most inclusions for the reasons you state. I think the most likely will be Tyus. I think the least likely will be Dieng (but I'm biased as a big Gorgui fan).
I don't think they can get rid of Bazz right now because they need his scoring. I could see him being moved maybe later in the season after we get a better idea of what we have in Belly and Dunn.
I'm not a huge Bjelica fan. But I'd like to give him a second chance this season to see if he adjusts/improves enough to be a decent bench player. I don't know that he would have much value in the form of a trade at this point anyhow. Like Bazz, I think they need to see what they have with Belly before making any moves.
I can't see moving Rubio this year - especially with the Dunn early struggles. That article that stated Dunn will be the starter after 20 games seems far fetched. Rubio has been discussed on here ad nauseam. But the fact remains he is still our best option. And until that changes, they can't move him.
I think more likely than a trade will be a reshuffling of the last couple roster spots via free agent pick ups once teams finalize their rosters. I think we need more scoring for the second unit. A SG would be nice. Watch the waiver wire for any former Thibbs players that might be cut by other teams.

Thibs was gushing over Rubio the other day. And I thought I heard him saying good things about Dieng, too. I have a hard time believing that he is even considering breaking up our starting unit.
People keep saying we need Bazz's scoring, but his play is actually very anti-Thibs, because he does not make other players around him better.

Re: There are gonna be trades. Who's gonna go?
The two most important players on the squad right now are KAT and Rubio. KAT because he is our best player and Rubio because of the importance of his position and the significant drop-off that occurs when he's on the bench (will this EVER change!?). As Carlos mentioned, there is no way Rubio is going anywhere for now.
I also think Dieng stays. He looks very solid paired with another big. His biggest defensive struggles have always occurred when he was the sole big man anchoring the paint because he just doesn't have the strength and balance to hold his ground. Pair him with another big man and it helps tremendously. Plus he's improved his offensive game every year.
Payne might be cut, but he certainly isn't being traded. No one will want him.
Bjelica isn't going anywhere. Thibs has glowed about Bjelly and he realizes he needs another playmaker on that second unit with a rookie at PG. He's also one of our few players that can hit 3's consistently.
Tyus Jones seems to be the one most likely to be moved, but even that can be questioned.
Personally, I don't think we see a lot of churn in the coming days.....

Re: There are gonna be trades. Who's gonna go?
The only reason to trade Rubio would be if there was a better one available for us. There are about 10-15 in the league that are, but not many of them are likely available or would make sense in a trade. But if someone like John Wall started get antsy we have as many assets as anyone to make a sweet deal for a player like him.
Re: There are gonna be trades. Who's gonna go?
I know Dieng is gonna get paid but I don't see him getting moved either. It's been reported Thibs liked him in that draft and Has said good things about him including that Dieng does all the dirty work nobody else wants to do.
There could be some moves made but teams call around to see if there is any interest. That's their job. Shump makes sense to call about. He could be a guy on the outside looking in when it comes to minutes for the Cavs who have Vets who could be in front of him for minutes and the Cavs don't have much at PG.
Thibs has talked up Bazz a bit too so I kinda think the price for him would at least be something pretty decent if he was moved. That could change though. I'm not really expecting any trades at this point but a couple months from now maybe. It's the NBA though you never know what teams might agree on.

As cutdown looms, the Celtics continue to offer James Young or RJ Hunter for a second-round pick, league sources tell @TheVertical.

John Wall is an interesting case. A former #1 pick with elite size and athleticsm for a PG. He's become one of the best assist men in the game, but also one of the most inefficient volume scorers. Inefficieny + volume is generally not a good combination. He is a net plus for his team, but not as much as Ricky Rubio has been with the Wolves. I'm not sure where I rank Wall on the list of top PGs.....

If Wall can keep hitting 3's around 35% that's gonna be big for him. The 2 years he hit that percentage he took more 3's. Maybe he is a guy that my theory of taking a higher volume helps.
Some fun stats:
FT rate and Rebounds per 36 mins
Wall 5.2 4.5
Rubio 4.5 4.9
