He's either been injured or has had to play for his country, and playing for Spain isn't something he's probably ever going to give up. At this point it's probably set in stone, but I do offer this up, just because a shot isn't perfect form doesn't mean that over time it can't become consistent. I've seen dudes at the Y who hit almost every shot they take with goofy ass shots, but they play so damn much it almost always goes in. At some point if he just accepts his shot and stops trying to change the mechanics and just gets in the gym and shoots it will get better. Idk.
Rubio has been practicing his jumper for years and years. It's a problem that dates back to his days in Europe.
I've embraced Rubio for what he is. He's imperfect without a doubt, but I'm not sure what more evidence folks like Porkchop and others need to see to understand what a massive positive impact he has on the team.

That is painfully noncompetitive without him.
Well said, Phenom! I'll add that Abe's reference to Rubio as "pretty good" must reflect Abe's hornery nature. Ricky is a very good player when you look at his full package of talents and overall impact on his team. He's an elite playmaker/floor general, defender and rebounder at his position. He's also an excellent free throw shooter. And his substantial positive impact on the team is well documented statistically. Yes, he's a very poor field goal shooter. That's why he's not an elite PG in spite of his elite contributions in nearly every other aspect of the game.

Semantics.
He's an average starting PG in today's NBA. Really great at some stuff... really terrible at other stuff. Throw it all in the wash... and there you have it.
He's an average starting PG who hasn't played on a winning team yet.
