Here is something interesting to think about in the future. I could envision a close-game scenario where you effectively interchange Jones and Rubio depending on whether we're on offense or defense (and whether we're in the lead or tied/behind). It's certainly unorthodox to do that with PGs, but it happens all the time with Centers.
A Point Guard platoon. I like it! Way to think outside the box Q :-)

Tyus with another 30 point outing last night. I believe that finishes his D-League stint. Through 6 games he averaged 25 PPG on solidly efficient shooting numbers. His other stats were so-so, but we already know he can run an offense. It was interesting to seem him as an alpha-dog scorer.
Perhaps he can be the yang to Rubio's yin.....or something like that.

Inwatched part of 3 wolves games today they need another ball handler that can also hit a 3. Tyus may be able to do both. Maybe he sucks at D but if he could do those other 2 things maybe we could live with it especially if we have Dieng and KAT playing at the same time behind him.

Just noticed how many three pointers he was taking...
He took 8 per game. And still hit 43%.

I think players that take more tend to make a higher % because they get in a rhythm. I think the thought here is if you miss them to start we go away from it to quickly.

I agree Bleed that a higher volume of 3's taken can lead to a higher percentage. I noticed this trend years ago with Telfair and I have looked for it since.

Interesting you bring up Telfair. I think Jones and Telfair are similar players and except Jones looks to have a better shooter.

Yeah that is interesting to think about. Telfair is probably shorter than Tyus but was plenty quick. Telfair wasn't good enough to be a starter or even top backup for these reasons.
1. (This is really 2 reasons put together in one point) He wasn't a good enough shooter /scorer. He didn't have a good enough outside shot he didn't have midrange he didn't really get to the hoop or finish well enough when he got there. The bottom line was you didn't have to worry about him beating you most nights scoring the ball. He was more functional picking his spots as time went on when he was a backup but he wasn't an asset there and plenty of times was a liability really.
2. While Telfair was good at making PG plays he wasn't on target enough with his passes. He would drive and kick to a guy but it would not hit the guy well enough for him to just get the ball and make a move or take the shot. If he would have been able to deliver those passes on target at a much higher rate we would have seen him be much more valuable. Bottom line was he wasn't good enough at setting guys up to be a real asset in that catagory.
3. His defense wasn't good enough to offset his other liabilities. He was a small guy and it wasn't until his last year or 2 with the Wolves that he seemed to really be anything near useful in that end. Ultimately he was probably at best a decent defender that was at least good at getting digs at the ball when he doubled.
Telfair showed in his last couple years with the Wolves he could run your offense make a few plays not make many mistakes and get hot and score some points once or so every 15-20 games. Decent backup at best not a bad 3rd PG if you want a "you know what you are and aren't getting type"
Contrast that with Tyus. He is probably little bigger (no measurements on Telfair but by my memory he looked like a 6' max guy to me) but less quick. He looks like he may be a much better shooter. His feel for the game and passing looks like it will be better than Telfair. His defensive ceiling might be where Telfair got to but that might be enough if he does enough other things. It just seems to me Tyus has a better feel for the game offensively both passing and scoring and skills than Telfair had/has. If Tyus can be a better shooting more accurate passing Telfair that's a nice backup at the very least. Sometimes the line between legit NBA rotation player and fringe guy isn't very big.

Perhaps we call Distributing the ball the D. Then he can be the 3&D that we've been hoping for. Perfect!

There you go, I like it.
