Trading Rubio is still an option in my book. I love the guy, and value his positives greatly, but there's nothing that says we can win a ring with him as our main ball handler. That's the main objective in all this.
Another reason why Mudiay is definitely an option.

Trading Rubio is a nice theoretical idea but would be a bad business decision now because his value is so low. Once he gets a whole season in we could see if he really ups his game. We can always trade him for nothing, but there is a possibility that he may even be worth something in the future. I've maintained that a big and another guard may be the way to go. If we want to keep Rubio for a bit I think Russel would be a way better guy to fit in than Mudiay. But if we did get rid of him I would think about Mudiay. I still prefer seeing how Rubio could develop the pick and roll game with a more traditional big (Okafor or Towns) and Wiggins on the wing. It makes me salivate.

I agree. One of the reason why I wouldn't be against drafting Mudiay or Russell.

At one point this season I went straight from watching the team without Rubio Pek and Martin to the team with them. No question all 3 make the te a ton better. I think some would have argued Pek was a guy you build with if he was healthy but everyone was worried about that and it's not gotten any better despite the Wolves best efforts to protect him. Martin I'll take a SG that can score 20 ppg in his sleep fairly efficiently even if his defense sucks because a lot if guards suck at either defense or offense or basically both. Martin makes a little over what the league average is. The problem with this trio isn't the effect they have while on the court its that they haven't been able to stay on the court and that includes Rubio.
Assuming Rubo does stay healthy I see him as a cornerstone player because of what type of guy he is making other people better. If you don't think Wiggins is a corner stone guy I don't know what to say. He is gonna be really good. The PG position is ridiculously stacked right now but that doesn't mean Rubio isn't still a valuable player. Because of another year with injury I won't say whether he can become a better shooter till the end of the 2015-2016 season. I'm not giving him a pass just being realistic.
Bottom line is that no matter how you value the trio PC brought up the Wolves have to find more than Wiggins to be guys worth building around. Bazz if healthy could be another guy and Dieng could be part of the equation not as a. Using block but rotation guy. Will Lavine or another young player on the roster step up to be useful? Will the Wolves draft the right guy? Idk fingers are crossed.

If you trade Rubio, we'll never have a shot in hell at winning. We're absolutely functionless without him, yet you wanna hand over the reigns to an inconsistent kid playing against bums overseas?
Wiggins needs to prove he can put the team on his back and win games, and that doesn't seem feasible given how poor this team is.
That said, I could see Flip drafting Mudiay with the same logic he had when he was about to offer a max deal to Eric Bledsoe. We saw how that cost Phoenix Dragic. This could cost us Rubio and it's gonna be ugly because I don't see this team ever making the playoffs without him.

I completely agree. I'm really wary of Mudiay since nobody has seen him play against anyone other than high schoolers and Chinese. That's why I am so worried about getting a pick 4 or later...we don't need another project, and Mudiay can only be considered a project at best. Heck, Guangdong played much better this year with Will Bynum at PG after Mudiay went down with his injury, and then when he came back for the playoffs he had about 8 turnovers in the loss to Beijing. Just because you can dominate high school players, it doesn't necessarily mean you can play in the NBA. No thanks on Mudiay.

We've only sniffed the playoffs once with Ricky so saying we have no chance at making the playoffs without him seems a little strong. It's a PG deep league. Losing Ricky wouldn't be the end of the world. Until we win with him I don't see how you can say we couldn't win without him. We've pretty much been a .500 team with him in his career. Most of the league is scoring PG's so maybe we're just missing the boat with Ricky and by not finding a scoring PG.

Just furthering my point about making excuses for Ricky. A thread has been made targeting the training staff for this recent Ricky injury . That's fine, but no one's ever had a problem calling Pek injury prone (self included ) but when Rubio gets hurt it's the staffs fault. Noone dares call Ricky injury prone but his games played in 4 years would say otherwise.

I just want to say I have mentioned Rubio as a possible injury problem for well over 2 years and I am a big Rubio supporter. I think there is only one season in Europe after he was drafted he was totally healthy and he hasn't been healthy an entire NBA season yet or one where he wasn't coming off an injury he was recovering from. He had that hand or wrist injury the year before he was drafted also so...yeah.
Kmart's injury are the norm he is gonna miss 20+ games that's why he is cheap. Pek is a center past his 25th birthday might as well plan on 15+ games missed and with Pek it's more like 20 something plus but centers age so poorly they miss games. I know KG and Duncan are different than classic centers but still it's amazing the longetivity they have had and Duncan is almost mind boggling what he has been able to do at his size and age. What I mean is going into both those players contracts I was aware of the injury issues I had a little moe hope for Pek but I knew the risk. I was willing to take that risk.
Re: have fans overvalued the talent of...
I think the athleticism KG had in his younger years takes more of a toll on the body than a center like Duncan who relied less on the running and jumping and more on technique. Nonetheless ,Duncan is a marvel. And I've learned to appreciate him.
