That's a very nice start for those of us who are forecasting 50+ wins.

Yeah, I could see a real crowd of teams around that 48-53 win range because you have more teams than usual in the West that are actively rebuilding/tanking and then you have a bunch of others that are all really good. And it seems like a team like Golden State doesn't really care much about the regular season once they are assured of a top 4 seed. Same with the Clippers. So they are going to be resting guys a lot and may be willing to sacrifice a handful of wins in order to be ready for the playoffs. I mean, look at Phoenix. They had a brilliant regular season and then fell flat. None of it really mattered. They couldn't even reach the Finals again!

I'm not convinced there are going to be 4 teams looking to lose. I assume the Spurs are one of the 4 teams? I'll believe that when I see it. I'm not even sure a team like the Rockets are initially looking to lose. I'm not suggesting my those teams are gonna surprise and make the playoffs or something but I'm not sure they are trying to lose at the jump.

Anybody else impressed with Wembanyama's interview? The kid is totally comfortable on a TV camera talking to adults, comes off as a really grounded guy who actually thinks before he speaks, and he's doing the whole thing in a second language that he's pretty damn good at. How many of us here could have even given an interview in a second language at 18 and done more than asked where the bathroom was?

Yeah, kind of an extreme comment by Van Gundy...difficult to imagine Popovich ever tanking. I think a better way to say it is that there are 4 teams in the Western Conference who are going to be pretty easy to beat this year. Heck, Vegas doesn't see any of the western bottom feeders even getting to 25 wins. We'll have to see if Pop can pull a rabbit out of his hat, but I like every starter on the Wolves better than the corresponding Spurs starter...it's gonna be a challenging year for him.
