Well Tim he was hurt a chunk of games and that held him back a lot. I agree mental was a significant part of the problem though. I wanna believe in the guy but he has a lot or overcome: injury history 3 years long. A little undersized, mental including what to do and confidence, lack of production and quite frankly poor results in that dept.

I would really like to see him working on more low post moves. The guy is an absolute bull with his base. A jump hook and an up and under move would be deadly for him. The last thing I want to see is a step back jumper. With his handle he should be able to get a pull up shot at any point, so why fadeaway?

Any who, back to the original topic (now that we mostly agree the pick is Towns)...

The 2-level depth chart:

Rubio / (trade or FA)
Martin / LaVine
Wiggins / Shabazz
KG / Dieng
Towns / Pek

Other guys under contract are Bud, Bennett and Payne. Other guys hanging around are LoBrown, Neal, Hummel, Hamilton and Bjelica. If our backup PG comes via free agency, then Bjelica can be crossed off the list (no more money). Which is why I would really like to see us trade for a backup PG (using any combination of Bud, Bennett, Payne, 2nd round picks and/or rights to Bjelica).

Once the backup PG is acquired, the last 5 guys can be added to round out and balance the roster.

Tim imo you can sign a backup PG for peanuts because it's the deepest position in the league. Worst worst worst case scenario get a young guy like Brown or see what Telfair is up to. We got Mo for 3 million last year and that's because everyone had spent their money and we had some laying around.

Actually, we signed Mo very early in FA, as I recall...

And yes, Lo Brown would a triple worst scenario! I LOVE the Calderon idea.

I wonder if Bud would land Calderon. It saves the Knicks money and he seems like a role player Phil would like.

We could use Bud's shooting next year if he's the guy we saw from late in the season. Offer up Bennett instead and clear a body in the PF logjam.

I would dump Bud before Bennett. I would rather role the dice on the light coming on for Bennett then any benefit Bud can give us next year.

Neither will move the needle next year and I really don't want us in the try to win mode when we should be playing for the future that Bud won't be part of. I see Bud as a player that is marginally better then Hummel and is 27. I will go with the kid that has a lot of upside left in him.
