This whole business of "calling someone out or getting in their face" is just a temporary high. Love doesn't know how to lead by example and stick to "we" or "the team" when he jacks his jaw.
.
Love waited till JJ and Dante were gone before he made his comments. So he waited for them to leave before he "called them out". Sad.
Again... it's interesting to see how things can be viewed based on our interpretations or feelings on a subject. From Kraczynski:
"Kevin Love is usually one of the last Minnesota Timberwolves to be interviewed after a game, preferring first to collect his thoughts as he goes through a treatment regimen that includes an extended dip in an icy cold tub that helps his body recover from the beating it takes on a nightly basis.
This time, Love was waiting for the media who trudged into the locker room after the Timberwolves' latest gut punch of a loss, a 104-103 defeat to the Phoenix Suns. This time, he had a message to deliver, and it wasn't pretty."
Doesn't seem like Love conveniently waited for them to leave to voice his opinion. In fact, it seems he changed his routine to voice his displeasure as soon as possible. Maybe Barea's and Cunningham's hasty departures were the result of Love telling them what he was going to say to the media? We don't know...

Thanks Abe.....it sounds like it is even worse than I thought. These weren't off-handed comments. The starters lose a 9 point lead in the last 4:30 of the game, and Love had a "message to deliver" about the bench?
I don't think that any sane person can honestly believe that Love though that "the problem that needs to be fixed after that game is bench players". IF Love actually thought that.......we have bigger problems on the Wolves than any of us are aware of.
LOL.....it sounds like Love was thinking "I should distract the media from my atrocious .200 shooting night............who should I complain about?..........oh ya.....let's complain about bench players for not giving me enough moral support."

That's a lot of conjecture. Love SHOULD use "we" a bit more often. Or, even "I blew the bunny at LA and I blew the freebies vs. OKC." And he should be ripped for those occasions and even more.
But assuming he's just trying to deflect attention away from his poor game? Meh. Or, insinuating that a player can't note something because he had a poor game, even if it's warranted? Meh. It's not like Love went after those guys for shooting poorly.
That being said, maybe this was a contrived rant of sorts. I don't believe the Barea/Love situation is brand-new. Remember, they had to be "separated" a couple of years ago. And there was the little spat a couple of weeks ago. Love, knowing his pull on management right now (for good or bad) might be trying to hasten Barea's exit from the team.
The star player forcing somebody out isn't anything new in the NBA. Usually, the star has more of a winning foundation to point to however and I think that's why some of the Love blowback.

I'd say no leadership is better bad leadership. All he needed to say was he had a bad night and if he makes 1 more shot we win the game. Then privately talk to the guys about maintaining focus and supporting the team while on the bench. It shouldn't be that difficult to take responsibility for his play, he is the "superstar" so the majority of the time losses are and should be on him because he is held to that higher level. As much as I hate Lebron he is great at this, how often does he make excuses or blame his teammates?
The other weird thing about his comment is, how focused was he on the game? Clearly a decent portion of his attention was on things happening off the court (just by looking at the bench repeatedly to see who was cheering him on). But based on his comment it would appear he was thinking about this "problem" and what to say post game while the game was still being played.

Wasn't it about them not joining the huddle(s) during timeouts? That's a big difference than looking over at the bench and losing a guy on a pick and roll or something during the game.

Some of you need to go and actually read Kraczynski's piece.

This team lacks FIRE. Love is the showcase, but too often the responsibility and crunch time management is left to fillers. Last night the refs kept this game close, but our offensive shooting was ridiculous. Rubio in my opinion needs to go back to PG school and learn to deliver a pass without jeopardizing his pass. (leaping, jumping, getting stuck under the rim) I blame this solely once again on Adelman and his management of the team personel and his lack of coaching and development of young players. This is not the Kings of glory years. Pek is not Divac, Brewer is not Christy, and Rubio is NO Bibby! Trade Rubio for Rondo right now!! I just do not see his game developing more then it already is. His decision making is poor, his shot is ugly and besides for a trick pass or something crazy he pulls off, he is mediocre. Or package Rubio and player for Carmello. Living in Portland I get to watch the best PG in the league every night, in Lillard. What a steal at #6. Love needs a true Number 1 or 2 scorer, and as much as i love Pek...he just isnt enough. God I love that dude.
Lastly, you all can get on me for this, but....we need a dagger shooter off the bench and JR smith is the key piece. Balls is what he has...I don't care if he shoots a low percentage, he has the balls to take the last shot.

JR Smith of last season can help this team... IF... he's willing to accept a secondary role.
And it will give me a lot of material. Make it happen.

Interesting how this rant was conveniently done after an ESPN game. Cue the writers over at the four letter: Kevin Love not happy in MN.
