Re: Mo Williams!!!
I agree Q. It is very similar to saying a guy won't hurt you, which is another way of saying he has no skills and shouldn't be touching the ball (Hummel anyone). I can't believe you have a problem with signing Mo for 3.7, but you are OK with the Hummel signing.
Not to beat a dead horse (too late), but why did Flip sign Hummel now? Why not wait till the Love thing shook out. Not too likely that he was getting other offers. We now have a full roster, but hopefully several moves to make. Flip said he wanted 2 way players. The closest Robbie comes to that is falling down while running both directions.
I find it amazing that some folks view Hummel as a stumbling idiot that doesn't belong anywhere near an NBA team and others, like myself, see him as a great end of bench player that you can plug in and count on competent decision making and hustle at a cheap cost. That's often why I throw out stats in my comments, because as fans our eyes see such different things. Stats at least offer some level of objectivity to the discussion.
Mo Williams is older and more costly than Hummel, that's a big difference. I actually think Hummel will get better, especially with his outside shot.
But we've beaten the Hummel horse to death as you point out and no one is going to change their minds for now.

Kevin Martin and Chase Budinger aren't the most reliable players, health wise. Mo gives us another good bench shooter. I like the signing.

I like the signing. It is 1 year with fair money.
Re: Mo Williams!!!
In my view, Mo was a good, not great addition. He is a very good 3-point shooter who can get hot and spark a team in the 4th quarter. His 3-point shooting fell off only slightly last season from his average 38.5% to 37%, which is still good. Statistically, he'll instantly become the best 3-point shooter on the team (maybe tied for the best with Martin).
Mo is 31 years old, the same age as Martin, but unlike Martin Mo won't be expected to start or do anything other than bring perimeter scoring punch off the bench in limited minutes. He's plenty young to continue doing that at a high level and there is no pattern of decline in his game. A one year deal at less than $4 million is reasonable.
I'm also fine with the Hummel signing. He's very cheap and you have to have a couple players under a milllion per year to fill out a roster economically. I expect Hummel's shooting to improve and he's a smart player who can rebound a bit, set screens and do other "little things." I trust that Flip sees things in him that he can take advantage of in ways Adelman did not.
Of course, as we all know, the Wolves fate won't turn on the signings of Mo Williams or Robbie Hummel. We won't know where this franchise is headed until the end of the 30-day Wiggins waiting period.

Well you said beating a dead horse and then Cam said +1000. I guess that horse (Hummel) is glue about now so you guys are right we shouldn't sign him. Also I was just kinda joking around.
I just don't like that we wasted a roster spot on him when it's looking like we might not have a spot for Robinson III. GRIII has way more potential than Hummel, is a better cutter than Hummel, better finisher than Hummel, better defender than Hummel, better athlete than Hummel, etc. All this while he's only 20 years old with pretty decent upside. Hummel is what he is. THAT is why I hate(d) the Hummel signing. The timing didn't make any sense and he's a wasted roster spot.

Re: Mo Williams!!!
I've never been a big Mo Williams guy, but as he is a clear upgrade over JJ and Lexi, I am on board. I especially like the one-year deal, and think that signals Flip's interest in turning over the backup PG duties to LaVine in a year.
Williams gives us a proven 3-point shooter off the bench and also is a decent playmaker as demonstrated by his TO/Assist ratio. And he is an upgrade defensively over JJ. I don't like his reputation of being high maintenance, but see that as little risk on a 1-year deal.
As others have pointed out, it will be interesting to see how Flip juggles the roster with 15 guys already signed and the likelihood of adding more net contracts in any Love deal. I'm convinced JJ and Lexi are gone, and although I liked the Robinson pick, I'm not going to lose any sleep over his not making the team as 15th man. Hummel played poorly last year, but he's dirt cheap and has the potential to provide some value as a 3-point option. Ultimately, though, our success doesn't hinge on Robinson vs. Hummel, and who knows, maybe Flip clears away enough contracts that he can make room for Robinson too. He and Robbie are ideal end of the bench guys.

Flip could easily move a guy in the magical Love trade or flat out cut a guy like Shved to make room to sign GR3 if he wants. You don't think Glen would pay the dirt cheap few hundred grand more it would cost to keep the young GR3 over Shved? Yeah me neither.
Like Q I don't get why Hummel is this bumbling crappy player. Honestly the bumbling crappy player on the Wolves last year other than Shved was Derrick Williams. Its really sad (people are going to really disagree with me but look at some stats) but Hummel is a better overall basketball player than Williams who's only saving grace is he gets to the line but also at times turns it over doing it and is a disappointing FT shooter. Of course if Derrick Williams is the bar that's set its not hard to accomplish getting over that level. I know I won't change any minds with this post that's ok I got it out. Lol
Re: Mo Williams!!!
You were right, monster. You didn't change my mind. I already agree with you.
Flip said he wanted another forward on the roster that can stretch the floor. Hummel can do that, plus he's already familar with the team. He's the type of end-of-the-bench, minium-salary guy a team needs who can actually give you reasonable minutes if called upon.
And on GR3, he is NOT as ready to contribute at the NBA level as Hummel. He needs some seasoning. So he can go do that while we hold his rights. Or maybe he's already part of the "agreed to deal" with Cleveland. Or maybe they are waiting to see how everything shakes out, and if there is an open roster spot they will sign him and let him play in the D-League.

Because Hummel was a game-changer last year... Give me a break. Don't turn the ball over and give effort and that's matching Hummel's level. GRIII won't be playing basketball overseas, as it seems like you're hinting. I've stayed on this stance since it first got mentioned, but I don't see Flip throwing away a pick that he was so proud of. He had GRIII rated 27 overall and landed him at pick 40. So Flip would basically be throwing away a first round pick and I don't see that happening.
