Cooper is an interesting prospect, but I'm not sure he's what we are looking for in a backup PG. I think I would call him Scoot Henderson light. Exciting athlete able to get to the bucket, but a poor 3-point shooter, an erratic playmaker (almost 4 TOs per game) and an undersized defender easy to exploit. We'll have to see, but I'm skeptical.
I’m skeptical too. But we wouldn’t have to give up KAT to get him. . This franchise is at a point where they have to kick to tires on some inexpensive young PG prospects to succeed Conley. Conley is 36 years old with a history of injuries. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like we can expect JMac provide what we need. If we don’t trade KAT, we’ll need to find a diamond in the rough and develop him. Cooper and McClung are the two who come to mind. Maybe we could get Fultz, Cole Anthony or Suggs in in Gobert deal. But otherwise, it will have to be an undrafted FA from this year’s draft or the G-League.
What about a one year stop gap to give us more time. Maybe Kemba Walker? I know he's had some injury issues the last couple years. But maybe the combo of him and Conley can piece together a full season of production while we draft/sign/develop a younger PG. It looks like his last deal with Dallas was a one year, non-guaranteed $2.2M. That's nothing. Could be a low risk/high reward type signing assuming they do their due diligence during a physical examination to determine he's now ok health wise.
Payton Prichard requested a trade today. Wouldn’t hate a Prince for Pritchard trade. Prince will fill that Grant Williams role got the Celtics because the Celtics will lose Grant Williams due to the new CBA

I think this is realistic. They'd probably throw in a 2nd.

I could get kinda excited about this move. I’ve always liked Pritchard. What’s his D like?
Another benefit of this trade is it could open up some financial flexibility for this offseason as well. I think that’s probably why the Celtics don’t add anything to the trade like a 2nd and I would be fine with it.

I like Cooper as a player but I have a number of questions about him especially next to Edwards you outlined a couple.
3 point shooting…yeah he is certainly inconsistent. It’s not imperative that he shoot’s well but it’s seems likely based on what his role will be playing off ball.
Speaking of which I question is value playing off the ball. He isn’t gonna be having the bal a ton like he has as a pure PG or as a scoring guard. Can he play off the ball and can he play well at a lower volume of minutes. I worry he is a guy that’s a high yay age high volume of minutes type guy.
Defense?
Having said all that he is a guy I’d certainly hope they are looking at. There are guys out there that will be available that can end up being quite useful. Maybe it’s Cooper or some other G-league guy or maybe it’s some dude 3 teams have already cut. The Wolves need to be looking at all kinds of options even if it’s just to find a guy that ends up being a good legit rotation backup guard.
A couple of FA's that I think we can sign for the minimum are Saben Lee and Mac McClung.
I'm looking for someone who can fill the void Nowell couldn't fill and we have a big time opportunity for someone to come in and offer much needed scoring off the bench and shoot. They're shorter than Nowell, but Nowell at 6'4'' wasn't very good defensively anyway.
Jevon Carter is a free agent. He'll most certainly decline his player option which is a little above $2 million. He'd be my top target after Shake Milton.

I’ve always kinda liked Carter and thought he was a bit undervalued but he is a guy I would sign if I had my starting PG situation set and I needed a good backup. He would be a nice addition but he is unlikely to help in the search for the the guy next to Edwards long term. That might be ok. Idk how much Carter is gonna get but if it’s too much I might be inclined to sign a guy cheap possibly hoping to find the next Jevon Carter.
