I will say I do really like that Rudy and Naz come off the books in the same year. Could be a chance to reevaluate Ant and Mcdaniels time line
Tim just to clarify are those numbers what the Wolves can offer him having his bird rights?
Or a team that has the cap space...

There were a number of teams that have created cap space for this offseason, so NAZ could have received a tempting offer. It's pretty cool that his no longer on the market!
Thanks Tim. Idk how many landing spots there really were for Naz but imo this deal is a good for both sides and Naz if he does really improve can opt out when he is young enough to still cash in either with the Wolves or another team. Resigning with the Wolves benefits Naz even if he gets traded because the team that acquires him would also get his bird rights so they could pay him if he opted out after 2 years. Again it looks like a good deal all around.

I’m imagining the pitch to Naz to stay went something like this:

1. Familiarity. Stay with what you know. You know us and we know you. We love you and your teammates love you. We all want you to state. There’s a bond of understating and trust here that you can’t count on anywhere else. You’re used to playing with these guys and it’s likely you’ll play better with teammates your accustomed to playing with, which can only help your value around the League. We know you and therefore we know how to bring out the best in you.

2. Winning. You know how good we can be with a healthy KAT and continuing improvement from Ant, Jaden and you. Without your or Jaden and before KAT could fully ramp up, we were still competitive with the Nuggets. Your teammates are approaching next season with a renewed effort and commitment to improve this summer. Rudy is determined to improve and is here working out with you guys in Mpls. Ant is in the best shape of his life. Being part of a winning team is satisfying to you as a competitive, but it will also enhance your market value down the road.

3. We will pay you more than any team that’s over the cap. The few teams below the cap can pay you more, but none of those teams is in a position to win in the next couple years. Losing will be distasteful and will also impede the development of your market value.

Then again, maybe none of those things were said. :). In any event, I’m impressed that Naz decided to stay. I’m sure there are teams that would have paid him at least as much and they were probably positioned to give him a bigger role, which had to be tempting. It’s a credit to the Wolves organization - especially TC and Finch - that Naz decided to stay and made his decision so quickly. I do think TC is building a culture here that we haven’t seen before. I like what I’m seeing.
