Around the League - '23-24 Season

Harden is a rental for a championship run.

Towns is a very expensive building block.

We know there was a market/suitor for Harden... we're yet to see what the market is for Towns. And if the fit in Minnesota remains bulky, and his production remains subpar as a result, it's not going to help fuel value among his potential suitors.

I think people are so consumed with making it Ant's team that they forget that your 2nd and 3rd best players have to be damn good too, so are we really comfortable betting the entire duration of the Anthony Edwards era on Immanuel Quickley becoming our Jalen Brunson? I don't wanna get too deep into this until it happens (and I think it eventually will)


But I'm glad most are coming around to the fact that KAT's value around the league is really poor.

This is unfortunately true, but it was much higher 2.5 years ago when Cool was suggesting we move him. I was also saying his value was only going to go down. Sadly I told you so.

His value isn't much higher than this because like Harden, not many teams are gonna think they're a Towns away. Even the team he's linked to the most (Knicks) the fans don't want him there, so to make a move to get Towns while Embiid, Mitchell, and/or Luka haven't left yet would be a fireable offense for Rose/Rosas.

I would argue KAT isn't just a rental though either, he's a guy you can build with (not around exactly). It's surprising to me how much the Sixers got for Harden.

I would argue KAT woulda been more valuable as a rental because nobody thinks he's a supermax guy.

I think it's fair pay. KAT as much as he gets ripped on is still a damn good player overall and elite offensively. We rag on him more because he hasn't lived up to his potential. He could be an MVP type player like Jokic and Embiid and he's not. The expectations were too high and he never made the leap from All Star type to MVP type player.

I'm with Cool though as well. I was ready to trade KAT years ago. Once he stagnated making progress as a Wolf. I still think there is potential upside on another team which will help his trade value.

I would be shocked if KAT didn't get a much better return then Harden. Harden has more recently been even worse then KAT in the playoffs too and much older. He's a bigger headcase and worse on defense. A worse teammate.

I'm not sure anyone views KAT as having upside because they're too turned off by his personality. Wolves rag on him for the same reasons everyone else does but everyone else rags on him worse. Like I've said before, KAT doesn't seem to have many friends outside of his existing teammates who publicly vouch for him the way other guys have.
