It's an interesting deal.
Washington gives up assets in a 3rd rounder and a young CB to get Smith and give him a new contract.
My guess is Cousins was gonna ask for a bunch of money and guaranteed years and/or was just done being in Washington. With Brees likely not hitting the Market Cousins is probably the top guy available.
The Browns supposedly we're interested in reading for Smith.
2 of the QB teams that were factors in this offseason in KC and Washington have made their QB moves and that puts a QB out on the open market in Cousins. I read that Denver is gonna make a monster offer for Cousins that makes sense. They basically don't have a QB right now and you know they want to win sooner rather than later.

It was a great trade for KC. I like Alex Smith, but that was a steep price.
I am wondering what the Vikings think of Kirk Cousins. Zimmer knows how to coach against him and has an idea. I think he is slightly better then what we had last year. I would be okay offering him a 4 year contract at 90M.

That first article is interesting.
So...
How good is Cousins?
How much are you willing to pay him?
I think those are the first questions to answer know. I'm not sure how I would answer them.
I'll just add that I think Tyrod Taylor could be an underrated QB acquisition this offseason but maybe he costs more than I think. He will likely be someone's fallback option. It could end up working out plenty decent.

Before the start of these season, I would have said Taylor is better than Keenum.
I am curious what happens to him.

Still thinking about Kirk Cousins. Not sold on him. I think he is an upgrade from Kenuum, but not sure I would give up on Bridgewater.
Stats for all 3.

Least sacked per attempt
1. Keenum 2. Cousins 3. Bridgewater
TD per Attempt %
1. Cousins 2. Keenum 3. Bridgewater
INT per Attempt (lowest to highest)
1. Keenum 2, Cousins & Bridgewater
Yards per Attempt
1. Cousins 2. Keenum 3. Bridgewater
Keenum looks really good comparing raw numbers, but his numbers are raised coming off a career year. Cousins had a down year and still was close to Keenum.
I would love it if we could land Cousins, but be able to keep Bridgewater some how.

Ranking QB options price not part of the equation
1. Cousins
2. Bridgewater (buying low)
3. Keenum
4. Bradford (he can't be trusted to be healthy, but might be the best of the bunch)

How can we get Mayfield?

I am interested in Lamar Jackson. Will he go in 1st?

Interesting breakdown Bleed.
I think it can be difficult to really rank and analyze these guys because the positions they are/were in. Cousins has been a legit starting QB for what 3 years? How good of a starting QB? That's a fair question but he has done it even with some poor games etc. those Washington teams had some talent but they were also kinda bad at times too. Cousins was probably more why they won games than why they lost them. He had to do a lot I think.
I like Teddy as much as the next guy but he hasn't thrown a meaningful pass in basically 2 years is coming off a significant injury and before that was...an average starter that you hoped could progress with more talent around him and natural progression. I want to believe in the guy but I find plenty of reasons to have some skeptism. I get why you wouldn't want to give up on him I certainly don't. We don't have the info the Vikings have on what he has been able to do in practice etc.

Dan Patrick was talking about Bridgewater and he was saying he has been told he was lighting it up in practice. Who said it? No clue, but that is the important question.
Also it looks like the Vikings will "Toll" Bridgewater at 2M for 2018 if they are given that opportunity. I think that keeps us out of the Cousins discussion since the presence of Bridgewater is going to be a concern for any QB that would want to come here. I honestly would love to see him sign with the Browns and then see him lead them to the playoffs. I am not sure Hue Jackson is good enough to do that though. I am shocked they didn't switch coaches. I think if they could land the right coach before start of next season they still could though.
