Pistons vs Wolves GDT
Re: Pistons vs Wolves GDT
When I see DLo selfishly jacking up bad shots I'll agree. But it certainly wasnt tonight. He moved the ball well, then took and made shots we needed him to take.
Re: Pistons vs Wolves GDT
How about 4 assists for Edwards in his first game. Not too shabby.

Abe's 1st Late Night DVR Review of the Season:
1. I'm glad I watched the recording before posting. That was... well... "less than pretty" for 3.5 quarters.
2. Somebody noted Winning Ugly > Moral Victories. Or something. Yep. Just win games.
3. The Wolves were beaten 3 times down the court by the other team's bigs for layups or dunks. And another time nobody rotated back on a jumper so they got another breakaway dunk. My junior high team would be running killers after that.
4. Maybe the Wolves are on to something. If teams/players refuse to post up with obvious mismatches. Ok. Dumb... but fine.
5. The bunnies. The PFs. Yuck.
6. As Kiwi noted... Towns is bad on defense. And he's foul prone. Those are his two biggest problems. And the Wolves did everything they could to make it harder than ever for Towns to be good on D and to avoid foul trouble.
7. The zone won the game. But I think it's more fluke... than anything sustainable. In any event... kudos for Saunders and Co. for going to it. If we're going to blame him for losses, we have to give him credit for making game-winning adjustments.
8. Detroit fans must be apathetic. With Griffin refusing to post. Mykhauliac launching three after three after three... and missing. And then spending $20M to give Jerami Grant more offensive touches because he cares more about touches for a bad team than winning on a good team. I read a season preview in the Detroit Free Press. They had four writers make their prediction. The highest won guessed 25 - 47. That's a bad team.
9. Good to see Edwards have some moments. I like him driving A LOT more than shooting jump shots. But we'll need both from him.
10. Beasley will be fine. (on the court) He can shoot.
11. Towns will have a few triple doubles. It's ridiculous the team went down 8 - 0 before he touched the ball though.
12. Still holding my tongue (fingers) on Russell until we see more. I have... ummm... well... I have concerns.

D-Lo was a 23-year old All-Star coming off of a career year. He was getting the max or near max from somebody. Stop it.

Yeah, he made a few big shots tonight, but so did Beasley. My problem is with people calling dlo a star. Are we really so starved for star players that we put on our rose colored homer glasses and start anointing "average overall players" as "stars"? Because I guarantee you there ain't too many people outside of Minnesota referring to dlo as a "star". I mean towns is barely considered a "star" around the league at this point.

Lol ok... Jeff Teague made the all star team one year too, and it wasn't even as an injury replacement.

Do you actually think before commenting or do you just shit out the first nonsensical thought that comes to mind?
Jeff Teague was 26 when he got his All-Star nod and already under contract. D'Angelo Russell was 23 heading into free agency. What a weird comparison to fling out there. These young guys normally get paid on potential alone. Meanwhile, he had already produced a season worthy of All-Star recognition regardless of if it was an injury replacement spot. Youth, production, and potential get you paid in the NBA and he had all three on his side. It's as simple as that. The guy was getting max or near max money with or without a sign-and-trade involving Kevin Durant.

Speaking of Jeff Teague... scored 19 points (4 - 4 3fg) and made the key defensive play of the game in Boston's win.

I just looked at the box score and noticed that Culver had 10 rebounds in 21 minutes. I thought he played really well tonight in all aspects of the game just watching him. But that box score stat? Wow! We'll see how he progresses, but right now I'm really glad we didn't trade him.

Yeah if he plays all year like he played tonight or even continues to improve he's a solid rotation guy for sure. Its still hard to conceive of a working unit with him and Okogie out there together, but he's really played well.
