LST, I'm not saying Ballmer would do something as blatant and dumb as the Taylor/Smith fiasco. But I did some work for Ballmer when he was at Microsoft, and I know that guy gets what he wants. He has virtually unlimited resources and the whole LA thing and all the potential advantages that come with it. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if he found some way to sweeten the pot for Jordan. Why else would a guy be second guessing his decision just days after committing? If the variables haven't changed, I don't see why his personal preference would. Any far fetched example might seem ridiculous, but with Ballmer's connections, I could see him finding a way to further entice Jordan. Maybe a movie contract with one of the studios, who knows. I just don't trust that guy and this is where the sport really needs a strong commissioner. At a minimum these FA rules need to change.

I know people don't like Cuban, but when you get a commitment from a guy, then you shift focus of your team building plan. That's why I don't like this idea of giving verbals. Just let them sign.

What is this notion that Dallas had DJ locked up for a while and that's why they let Chandler go and thus it's not fair to them if DJ backs out of his verbal agreement because they sacrificed Chandler knowing they'd get DJ? They just came to terms with DJ this week. Chandler was gone last week. They didn't let Chandler walk because they already had DJ locked up. Chandler was gone before they agreed to terms with DJ and they were willing to take that risk which they've done with Chandler before when they went after Dwight. They took a risk and it could pay off or they could get burned, but the notion that they ditched Chandler because they had DJ locked up just isn't true.

They could have got Lopez or Monroe or somebody else though. They could have gotten in the Hibbert trade action. Jordan backing out really hurt them.

That's the risk with putting all your eggs in one free agent basket. Those other guys were already off the table when DJ came to terms with them, thus you can only backtrack to when DJ agreed to terms and not before. It's basic opportunity cost. They went for DJ while those other guys signed elsewhere. If DJ agreed at the beginning of free agency and was now backing out I would get the sentiment of them not being able to go after other guys when they had a verbal commitment, but the fact is the other guys were gone before they even got the verbal commitment from DJ so losing the other guys was the opportunity cost of trying to sign DJ. You don't get to put all the plan B free agents on hold just in case plan A doesn't work out. The plan B guys can sign at the same time as the plan A guys so that's the risk for going after a plan A guy.

Also depends on the signals Dallas received early on. It may have looked so promising that other teams and players moved on. It's certainly an opportunity cost but unfortunate for Dallas nonetheless. At the same time Dallas could potentially snipe someone else away that may have preferred Dallas.

Twitter is ablaze right now with the DJ situation. The Clippers guys aren't leaving the house. Cuban, Parsons, nor any agents can get in or get a hold of DJ. DJ's going back to LA in such a terrible way. Meet with Dallas and tell them no if you want to stay, but to let it get this out of hand is unprofessional. People are joking that he's being held hostage, but this is on him for not telling anyone to GTFO and let him make his decision. Twitter is just eating this up right now.

I wonder if the Clippers just put a huge target on their back league wide. If you are going to back out of a deal, at minimum you should man up and tell the team you screwed over that you are leaving. Don't be a coward. This situation is nuts and looks bad on the Clippers and Jordan.

I'm told that DeAndre Jordan won't even take a phone call from Mark Cuban or Chandler Parsons.
What an immature punk. Doc Rivers is an utter ass. Like Cool my hatred for the Clippers has reached a dangerous level. Man up, stop acting like a bitch

This jordan situation is getting ugly. What an unprofessional and immature way of dealing with things by jordan and the clippers.
