Yeah, I thought the Brown hiring was not the right “take us to a championship level” move. I did not see a Brown-KAT rift developing. Looking at some of the Knick podcasts, the two must common themes are KAT not worth the money he is being paid, and references to his poor decision making (which we called “low BB IQ”).FNG wrote: ↑Mon Jan 19, 2026 5:40 pm Tough times in NY with the Knicks having lost 8 of 10 and finding themselves only 2 games out of the playin, and unfortunately old friend KAT is the main whipping boy there based on what I'm hearing. (Closed circuit to WildWolf, let us know if that is correct). To make matters worse, they are down 28 at the half today at home to Dallas, and KAT has almost as many turnovers as rebounds. A lot of talk on NBA Radio today about a bad relationship between Towns and Mike Brown and how Brown didn't really come to his defense in his dustup with Draymond this week. I called myself out in the "I was wrong" thread on my take that firing Thibs and hiring Brown would end up being a disaster, but I may end up being right on that one...the Knicks are in free fall.

I also thought Brown would not be as successful as Thibs, but he's known as a players' coach, so the problem between him and KAT is surprising to me. Too bad, because KAT seems to be one of the good guys in the NBA. But we certainly had our issues with him here despite his gaudy stats, so why would we think it would have been any better in the Big Apple.60WinTim wrote: ↑Mon Jan 19, 2026 5:49 pmYeah, I thought the Brown hiring was not the right “take us to a championship level” move. At the end of last season, the KAT trade looked like a classic win-win type trade where both sides came out feeling good about it without one side clearly feeling better than the other. But lately it feels like we are trending up with two of the guys traded in our starting lineup and producing and KAT starting to go wobbly. Oh, and then there is that young kid named Joan Beringer.

KAT has become a whipping boy mainly because he has been mentally just off since training camp and nobody can understand why.
The other guy who's getting a ton of blame is Bridges, especially since it feels more realistic that they coulda had Giannis had they just been patient and not been so eager to recreate the Villanova Wildcats.

the downside on our end is that we're gonna be super apprehensive to trading Randle even though we should remain open to the idea. Also, DiVincenzo tends to pick really bad times to have bad games. We got him because we thought he had a clutch gene and that hasn't manifested itself yet.Q-is-here wrote: ↑Mon Jan 19, 2026 7:00 pm At the end of last season, the KAT trade looked like a classic win-win type trade where both sides came out feeling good about it without one side clearly feeling better than the other. The trade looks like a big win for TC. If Beringer ends up being what I think he will, it's a total fleecing.
Re: Around the NBA:2025-6
Butler went down with a pretty significant knee injury tonight. I wonder what impact this will have on any Kuminga trade?
In any event, the Wolves might be benefactors in their two upcoming home games against the Warriors...

Torn ACL for Butler. Does that change things for the Warriors? They have been in the rumor mill to trade for Giannis
Re: Around the NBA:2025-6
Yeah, didn't look good at all...he was in a lot of pain and will have an MRI today. It's interesting how the Warriors performed though without Butler...they were up 77-76 when he went down and won by 23! And Kuminga still had a DNP even with Butler out.
In the next 17 games we will likely face GS without Butler twice, Dallas without AD twice, and Memphis WITH Ja twice (6-11 when he plays)...all to our benefit! Just have to hope Rudy and Naz are okay.

Rudy isn't on the injury report this morning and Naz is listed as Questionable.FNG wrote: ↑Tue Jan 20, 2026 6:44 amYeah, didn't look good at all...he was in a lot of pain and will have an MRI today.
