Next Moves for the Wolves
Re: Next Moves for the Wolves
I think where this team is at right now trading Covington and Teague is a no brainer. I think if we can somehow get rid of Gourgi too in all of that, I'd really have some confidence restored in Rosas.

At this point getting rid of Dieng ship has sailed. We are about to be at a point where we don't have any contracts to just throw in on a trade. Other than Dieng everyone else that will be one the roster will have some value to the current roster. I'm not saying keep him but I'm not giving up an asset to move him.
One of the slight advantage of moving Covington COULD be if we actually end up with less salary next season. It wouldn't be enough to be a big player or anything but it's always good to have more room even if it's under the lux tax than not have the room. The lower salary we have now (and might have going forward) because Covington and Saric were fairly cheap is something people do forget about when considering other possible outcomes of theoretical timelines.

If Roco + Dieng could get a big expiring and a decent young asset i do it.

What is your definition of decent young asset?

Off the top of my head lets say the Clippers were hot on Roco and needed to lock in a longer term wing asset because they're going to have no flexibility to replace Harkless and Harrell (both ufas). We build something around Harrell and Harkless, we'd risk losing them but may get an inside track on free agency if they fit well. Clippers may not want that at the risk of losing chemistry, but their long term planning is a bit against the wall.

Ok that makes sense. I don't think I could deal away Covington with a real possibility of getting nothing but cap space for him. I'd have to crunch the numbers to see if that would give the Wolves any meaningful cap space to work with in terms of FA if they didn't bring those guys back.
Edit: Just to clarify it would be hard to lose Covington for nothing not because I'm so opposed to dealing Covington but I see him as so valuable you have to get something worthwhile to deal him. Harrell would be a heck of a get especially if we were able to resign him for some sort of reasonable market value which...honestly I really don't know what that would be right now but obviously a lot more than he is making now.

Pacers: SF T.J. Warren, C Myles Turner
Wolves: SF/PF Robert Covington, C Gorgui Dieng
It's not the sexiest deal, but this would be interesting for both teams.

You think we could get that much? That seems a bit lopsided our way but sign me up. Turner and KAT could be a sweet front court.

Financially it works out. Might need some tinkering value-wise, but not by much. I can't see Indiana wanting to hold on to both Sabonis and Turner long-term at those price points and the former is just a much better player than the other. In theory, Covington's the best player in this deal and a much better defender than Warren with similar/better shooting prowess and positional versatility.
For Minnesota, we'd go from being undersized on a nightly basis to essentially being one of the bigger teams in the league. Warren would be a sweet third option scorer and Turner's that defensive compliment to Towns similar to how we discussed Capela at an earlier date -- but Turner can also stretch the floor.
Edit: Indiana also drafted a highly-skilled center 18th overall by the name of Goga Bitadze. More incentive for them to find a trade that makes sense for one of their pricey bigs.

Re: Next Moves for the Wolves
Kat has the second worst drtg on the team (bell is worse), so im good with any addition to help him out.
As good as he is offensively, his defense barely has him a net minus on the year.
Dieng is a -10 netrtg while vonleh is a plus.
Vonleh needs to play more, not less.
