It's on TNT, and interestingly enough the Lakers are 8-point dogs at home to the Bucks. A gambler has to take the points, right?
Will those guys even be suited up?
It's the new NBA athlete...I'm sure Michael Jordan and Oscar Robertson wouldn't have suited up the day after the trade with the grueling flight from SLC to LA...we need to pay these guys more! Still gotta take the points I think if LeBron and Davis are in the lineup. James is questionable though which might explain the odd line.
More important to us Wolves fans- will Conley suit up tomorrow? He's beloved in Memphis and a little more old school than the typical NBA player of today, so I suspect he will. I hope so...every game is big the rest of the season.

Multiple league sources who were granted anonymity so they could speak freely told The Athletic that the Jazz had numerous avenues leading to a deal for Conley. They truly valued his presence in the locker room. And while he wasn't Utah's best player this season -- that title goes to Lauri Markkanen -- Conley was pretty clearly Utah's most important player. Without him running the point, the Jazz are in peril of having the bottom drop out over the remainder of the season.

Multiple sources said the Jazz did have reservations about putting Alexander-Walker in the deal. Utah thought Alexander-Walker had a good season to this point. He showed considerate chops defensively, and he had his moments on the offensive end. He is young, athletic, and can play and defend through multiple positions. Of the players Utah surrendered, Alexander-Walker was the hardest to part with.

Good stuff. Wildwolf keeps telling us that NAW sucks and is just useless noise to make the trade work. That seems less and less credible by the hour....

Isn't it weird how the Lakers clearly didn't want Mike Conley Jr. when they could have easily had him? Or should we leave that part unsaid?

Conley is signed next season, they want all their cap space to at least take a swing in free agency. If they can't get something done there, they can than look at resigning Russell or trying to sign and trade him.

Ironically, that's the same position Minnesota was in -- with D'Angelo Russell, Patrick Beverley, and Malik Beasley -- before they made the move for Rudy Gobert. Weird turn of events.
Mike Conley Jr.'s salary next year is $24M with only $14M guaranteed. They could easily get off most of that at draft time (before free agency) if they needed to and still have a max slot, I believe. Also seems like they want to be more competitive this season and ensure a playoff berth. If Conley Jr. is a "winning" player, and Russell is a "losing" player, it seems odd to not take the former if you're Los Angeles, right?
Or maybe they just wanted the better player who's a decade younger. Can't blame them. Interesting all around.

What did everyone make of Jim Pete's comments throughout the game last night? He seemed generally excited about the trade and it seemed to me that his wording danced around that the players might be too. He kept saying how excited he is for Ant and how sometimes its hard to lose a teammate and sometimes it isnt. Maybe it is just part of the company line but it seemed veiled to me.

I think Jim Petersen has his favorites just like everyone here.

Didn't hear them, but that's interesting. Jim Pete travels with the team on road games so he knows the team dynamics but of course has to be very careful about what he says about players. Now, that DLO is gone, I'd imagine he feels he a bit less restrained, though, again he still has to be careful given his position and indirect veiled jabs, if you read it correctly, are about as far as he can go.
