I assume he hasn't watched Chet yet. His list was based on guys he had seen. I'll be curious to see how other guys like Jabari Smith and Murray stack up when he sees them.

Jon K had a positive remark about Bolmaro last night, but he had only 5 points and 3 TOs in his 29 minutes on 2-13 shooting.

Chet was not impressive. His length is incredible and he has a nice shot. But he's very weak and not tremendously quick. He was repeatedly outmuscled by players who aren't nearly as strong or good as the vast majority of players he'll face in the NBA. He'll get stronger in the years to come, but he has a long way to go. Watching him play yesterday, he did not look like a consensus top three pick in the draft. Jabari Smith didn't either. They were both outplayed yesterday by multiple players, including Nix, Christopher, Giddy, Tari Eason and Jalen Smith. Jabari Smith outplayed Chet even though Jabari wasn't particular impressive. Note this was just one Summer League game. But that's what I saw.

I saw Jabari and Murray yesterday. I saw Jabari and Chet head to head yesterday. I saw Murray in a separate name. Murray was the most impressive of the three by far. Smith was more impressive than Chet, but you could see Smith's limited ball-handling skills on display. But I liked his defense and his shot is a thing of beauty when it goes in.

I watched Chet vs Jabari last night. The Mack Center was packed and ready to watch them battle, but both played pretty meh. Jalen Williams was terrific, TyTy made me wish the wolves hadn't passed on him, and Tari Eason was as advertised - fearless in constant motion.

Josh Giddy was easily the best player on the floor -- that guy is special.

Chet showed his handle, his shooting touch and his ability yo protect the rim - he had several blocks. But he's way too weak. Guys were moving him off his spot easily, and snatching the ball away from his hands. Jabari showed his shooting touch and some toughness on D, but neither lived up to their billing, imo.

The other guy that really impressed was someone I'd never heard of -- Daishen Nix, a 6-4, 225lb point guard that played with power and confidence, was terrific shooting and passing, and I think led all players in scoring. Played in the G league last year for the rockets.

I had him 2nd on draft board behind Banchero. In the short time Ivey played today he was on another level. He's going to be a star and so will Banchero. They are, by far, the two standouts in Summer League so far. Here are my top 10 Summer League performers drafted this summer who I've watched so far through today:

1. Banchero
2. Ivey (very small sample, but his talent filled the arena)
3. Jaden Hardy
4. Blake Wesley
5. Benedict Mathurin
6. Josh Minott
7. Andrew Nembhard
8. Jalen Williams
9. Tari Eason
10. Malaki Branham

Of these 10, several looked like they're on another level than everyone else: Banchero, Ivey and Hardy. Just behind those three, I'd put Wesley, Mathurin, Minott and Jalen Williams. I think these seven players will be really good in a couple years if not right away. I see Banchero being a force right away and winning rookie of the year honors. Ivey will likely finish second in the voting. Both have looked like they'll eventually be NBA stars.

I haven't watched Mathurin yet, so may replace him in your top ten with TyTy, who was pretty terrific last night. But I agree with everything you wrote here, Lip. Keegan Murray played well yesterday, but I don't know that I'd put him in this top ten list.

Good observations, Sundog. I agree completely. I forgot to mention Ty Ty. His stats weren't impressive, but you can see the talent. Very smart and skilled. He'll be a really good NBA player.

Just looked up Nix. He was a guy that went straight to the G-league from HS and the next year which was last season signed a 2-way deal with Houston that was eventually converted into an NBA deal last year.

Honestly I'm Surprised every game that Giddy plays in Summer league that they are putting him out there. I'm not knocking the decision it's just that a lot of teams pull a guy that is that good.

Gabriele Procida just signed a three-year contract with Alba Berlin in the German League so it makes sense why he wouldn't be expected to play for the Detroit Pistons during Summer League.

I bring this up because I'm still not sure how Matteo Spagnolo is legally allowed to play for the Minnesota Timberwolves in Summer League while he's under contract with Real Madrid. I know on the NBA side of things that Summer League participants aren't paid anything other than per diem (unless they're on NBA deals), but you'd still think that there would be certain stipulations in his contract with Real Madrid. I find this more interesting than I probably should.

It is interesting. I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that Real Madrid seems to be perfectly content with him playing elsewhere this coming season instead of their roster. Maybe if he plays well in summer league that increases the market for him and they can get more money from letting him play in Italy? I'm not sure exactly how the "loaning" out a player process works.

Regardless it's nice to be able to see him play in this format. I've liked what I've seen so far. He didn't blow me away or anything but he didn't look like he was out of his element either and that's pretty good for player that's only 19.
