Are we entirely sure the random guy was the instigator. Aren't we assuming he was? Maybe Okafor shoved his girlfriend inside the bar. Maybe he said really mean things to the guy first. Maybe he threw ice at him. Maybe he ripped Dean Smith and the guy was an avid UNC fan. We don't know. That's the thing.

But we do know (via video) that Okafor escalated a war of worlds into a violent altercation that left a man injured.

I agree. Okafor's actions were pathetic!! Poor baby. Some poor slob insulted him and the oversized newly coined millionaire felt compelled to punch his lights out. There is absolutely no excuse or justification for what Okafor did. This incident SHOULD be investigated. But alas, I suspect it will be swept under the rug. If any one of us did what Okafor did, we'd be prosecuted for assault. Okafor will miss a couple games and continue to collect his enormous paycheck. I don't begrudge his big paycheck. But I do begrudge the failure to hold him accountable.

I watched this video again earlier this morning and from what I see in the video Jalil charges at the guy and initiates contact changing it from a verbal to a physical confrontation. On top of that because of this altercation someone crashes into a glass door or window and breaks it. There is simply no need for this crap.

Coach K came out and said Okafor is a really really good kid and maybe this was somewhat of a fluke but in this video he looks more like the dumb kids kids from when I was in HS that got kicked out of the YMCA on repeatably Saturday nights because they got run (by a team with a PG that didn't shoot aka Monster lol) and then popped off wanting to fight the guys that abused them in the post every possession. He didn't look like a pro athlete there he looked like one of those big talkers with no game. I expected more out of him than that. Hopefully he gets his stuff together. Kobe and Melo are reaching out to him among others. At this point it's basically on him. Honestly I feel a skeptical about him right now.

Carmelo?

Yeah, good role model. It's not like he ever tried to escalate a war of words into a violent confrontation or anything...
