I've read recently that Hinkle and the owner rarely meet with the media... maybe 3 or 4 times all season.

So these are the two architects behind the tanking and they're the ones demanding fans to "just trust us, we know what we're doing" but they seem to be shirking the duties of actually dealing with the ramifications of it. I dislike that organization (Hinkle) more and more the more I learn about it.


[Note: Imagine if Sam Mitchell was the guy instead of Brett Brown. Brown is the guy taking all the questions and all the heat. It would be funny to put a guy like Mitchell in that spot. He'd snap quickly, right?]

That is brutal for Brown. I keep reading about the worry that Brown won't get another shot with his terrible record. I doubt that will be a problem. He will probably stay unemployed about as long and Mike Malone did unless Brown wants to take a year or two as an assistant to recover from the Sixers experience.

If Sam Mitchell was in that position??? First of all I don't think Sam would actually take the job. I think he would tell them they they were nuts. If he did have the job he might hurt someone...ah ok maybe I get why some people are putting some blame on the Sixers for Okafor going on a rampage. It's still on Okafor but it's a tough environment after being so damn successful his whole life.

Laettner wasn't happy about all that losing back when the Wolves were bad and they were actually trying. Lol I'm playing on a losing team now in city league there isn't a direction we haven't won a game. I can't imagine going 1-22 or whatever and it was basically my entire life even if I was making tons of money doing it. It would suck.

Note: Full disclosure all the city league teams I have played on have been losing teams. (My plus minus is terrific it's not my fault! Jk) Most of the time it's been lack of talent and experience. It's also mostly been a good group of good guys of course people want to win but it's been about getting out and having fun. It still sucks to lose though. We haven't had enough leadership either we just sorta ball and see what happens most of the time and that doesn't work against good teams.

But pickup with the same group of guys is a better workout. 40 minutes of running time with free throws limits it quite a bit vs. 1 1/2 to 2 hours of continuous play.

Yeah I agree. We play at least once a week in that scenario. It is mostly fun to play against some different guys in city league. I don't know if I will play city league again after this year. My favorite city league moment was going up against Kevin Garnett's ODP or whatever the hell he called his groupies. Every one of them showed up in Range Rovers and sports cars. Thanks Kevin!

But they were assholes, especially the twins on the team. Oh, they sucked balls at basketball too. We must have beaten them by 40... which oddly still didn't stop their trash talking. Did they not have access to the basketball court in Garnett's house to get some shots up?

He did show up to a game once though. Stayed off to the side by himself and everybody left him alone.

The Sixers under Hinkie remind me a little bit of Amazon (yes, the company). To investors they deferred profit in order to plow money into their business with the implied message that at some point - if folks would just be patient enough - they would be able to unleash a major profit-making machine. Investors bought into it and it's hard to disagree with them.

I'm not sure Sixers fans are buying into this anymore.....

I think they still are... at least many of them are. The Promise of Hope is a powerful drug... even when it's not much more than a clever way for a GM to keep his lucrative job longer.

What are your thoughts on Philly? More specifically... the team's desire to lose while still charging you thousands of dollars for those seats. Their reply... don't like it? Don't buy the tickets. Seems like a slap in the face to a loyal fanbase if you ask me. Especially since the best way to keep good seats is to keep paying for those seats, right?

It would be really frustrating. Beyond the losing, what would really piss me off are the poor draft decisions they've made - especially drafting Embiid. Flip told me he wouldn't touch Embidd, so there were already red flags, both physical and psychological, that Hinkie apparently ignored. That's what would really aggravate me. However, Hinkie has done a great job accumulating valuable assets. And as mentioned earlier, if the Sixers land Simmons next June along with the Lakers' pick, they could turn things around very quickly and be sort of like the Wolves are now with a core of really talented young players. Simmons strikes me as a franchise changer.

So if I were a Sixers' season ticket holder, I'd hang in there through the 2016 draft and probably through next season. I might bow out after next seasont if things continue as they've been. On the other hand, I've hung with the Wolves since 2005, so I must have a high tolerance for misery.

Good news for sixers fans. They just hired Jerry Colangelo as an executive. We may see the end of hinkie and his ways soon. While they are maintaining that hinkie remains as gm, I don't see colangelo letting hinkie have final say on things. I expect the sixers to start assembling a more competitive team soon. If nothing else, Colangelo brings them credibility around the league.
