@DWolfsonKSTP: There's been #Twolves dialogue on FA PG Kendall Marshall -- his camp might've initiated. Anyway, ACL concern there. But MN on the lookout.

He's a good player and someone who I wouldn't mind at all. But still don't see why we have to address that position right now. We spent a bunch of assets on acquiring Jones and we have no idea what we have with him yet. I guess if you want to sign a guy like Marshall for 1 year I could be on board. But right now it makes zero sense to make a long term investment in any free agent PG.

Personally I don't see why we couldn't have tried to get Marshall as the long term backup from the beginning and I like the Tyus pick in general. Once agin FWIW Doogie has said that Lorenzo Brown's camp has had good feedback from the Wolves so adding Marshall could mean a glut of PGs. Maybe Flip thinks Brown can play more SG than we have considered.

I feel like Marshall seems to have shown enough the past couple of seasons to get a better shot than what we have to offer. I almost wonder if playing in one of the top leagues in Europe would be better for him. I'd take him on a 1 year deal though and be pretty pleased with it. I'd be happy with a cheap multi year deal too actually although I don't know why he would sign a multi year deal with Rubio and Tyus on the roster.

To the bolded point - No chance

The real question here for the Wolves is Lorenzo Brown versus whatever cheap-ish alternatives are available. But one thing is clear: Flip doesn't see Tyus Jones as a Day One backup to Rubio. And to me, that's a good thing.

How is that clear? Because of these rumors? I haven't heard anything from Flip other than he MIGHT consider signing another guard.

It's clear because I don't think he would even consider it if he felt Tyus was going to be prepared to be a Day One primary backup. If that's the case, than Brown is more than adequate as a 3rd stringer. But me thinks he sees Tyus as the 3rd stringer and is debating whether Brown is good enough to be the 2nd stringer.

I think i would stop following the wolves if they went out and signed a back up PG that was coming off a serious injury.

This makes it seem more likely that Miami holds on to Chalmers.

I would agree that Miami might not dump Chalmers now, though some commentators still think he could be traded to avoid luxury tax if Miami thinks Ty Johnson can be the backup point guard. The asking price is a 2nd rounder. With Napier to Orlando they have Payton, CJ Watson and Napier and even Oladipo could play point in a pinch. I wonder if Watson would be available now.

The supply of free agent point guards are dwindling. Kendall Marshall, Andre Miller (I think he resigns with Sac), Ish Smith and Jason Terry are the most significant unsigned point guards. I also think Calderon and Felton could be had cheaply. With OKC drafting Payne, I think Augustin might be available too.

Wow - Riley is not afraid to move on from a pick. What the hell is the Magic going to do with him?

I wonder if Flip has seen this. I wish this story would have been about Rubio.

That's kinda funny because Flip has been talked up on the funkadelic about his abilities playing the midway games.

Yeah I heard that after I posted it.

Here is a list of top ten left free agents.

Miller, Terry, and Cole are the top rated PG's left. I still have the stuff Karl said about Miller rattling around in my head. He might be the perfect backup and mentor for Jones. Jones is going make it in this league on being crafty and smart or he is not going to make it at all. Miller did exactly that during his career.
