The Wolves are not going to beat Golden State this year, sorry to burst your bubbles. Jimmy will be gone after the season probably for nothing. Yeppee, made the 8th seed last year, great trade! lol
The alternative is a perpetual lottery team that is probably the worst defensive team in the NBA during the biggest scoring boom in NBA history. How is that better?

That seems like a good plan when you factor in that we have never moved up in the lottery in franchise history. So all we'd have to do is be the worst team in the NBA again to maybe get the #1 pick.
If I'm Glen I'm looking at a Mixed bag the last few months when it comes to Thibs. I'm looking at the moves this summer and seeing Tolliver looking like a nice free agent addition. I'm looking at Rose one of the timberbulls being inefficient but playing his butt off invested in the team and averaging 5 assists a game. I'm watching Okogie look like a possible piece going forward. I'm also seeing a team that's playing hard and Thibs the coach that's seemingly evolving to some degree. I'm also very u happy with the Butler situation but I'm also watching Butler on the floor playing well for the most part and likely helping the possible trade market. To me Thibs has done enough to give me reason to let him continue to play this thing out...at this point. That could change but honestly even with Butler I think this team has looked better than expected during the regular season.

The thing I like about this is Okogie is doing this as a starter vs. a 15 minute per game bench sub. Depending on health and who we get for Butler, he probably won't be starting for long, but I have to believe Thibs keeps him in the rotation, even if that means going with a 10-man rotation.

If he doesn't remain in the rotation and play 25 minutes a night it's complete insanity to me. He's a bit raw offensively, but has shown surprising refinement in some areas. His ability to grab and go is the best on the team. Jim Pete pointed it last night, the cross over dribble in the open court to get to the rim was really really nice.
He is without question our best perimeter defender right now. It's amazing how he avoids screeners and his able to stay in front of his man, his rebounding his excellent also. They were running PnRs away from him at the end of the game last night. It would be malpractice if Tibs doesn't play him, but that wouldn't surprise me either.

I am 95% sure he will stay in the rotation. Whether it's 25MPG with a fully healthy squad is another question. As much as Thibs gets flack sometimes for not playing younger players, he has shown the propensity to play defensive/grinder types (Kris Dunn was raw too, but he was in the rotation). Okogie has kind of proved his mettle here to the point where I don't think Thibs leaves him out anymore.
Even Thibs can't be dumb enough to not play Okogie now. People checking boxscores might not see it, but anybody with eyeballs who watches these games can clearly see the impact he makes.

[*] He sticks to his man all over the floor, even through screens and step-backs, and constantly contest shots.
[*] His energy level is set to max at all times, and then somehow he turns it to 11 for 50-50 balls.
[*] He gets a bunch of deflections and pressures opponents to turn the ball over.
[*] He's getting blocks and could conceivably intimidate shooters, which is really rare for a wing.
[*] He's great at turning up the floor after a turnover and creating high-percentage transition chances.
[*] He's made some nice passes in the open floor.

He's exactly the kind of player Thibs loves, and that's one thing I'll give Thibs credit for. He should be fired, but I share his appreciation for hard-nosed, high energy defenders, and with Okogie, he's got a really good one. He should continue to start IMO, because we don't need more offense in the starting unit, we need more defense there.
EDIT: Just watched the Lakers highlights again and it reminded me of the two moments that should make every Wolves fan stand up and salute. First, there was the play where he made a spectacular one-hand interception of a LeBron outlet pass and then in one motion turned right back and attacked the basket, drawing the foul on McGee. If I remember the game right, I think that came right after he actually had a turnover or made a mistake, and I actually love that he bounced right back from a mistake and basically willed himself to pay it back. The second play is when he blocked Ingram and immediately leaked out for the fast break dunk. Just phenomenal man defense to get that block in the first place, and then the intelligence and motor to get upcourt before anyone. In both cases, he turns defense into offense. High motor, quick decision making, aggressive with dirty work. I fucking love that guy.
