ESPN sources say that the Timberwolves and Kevin Martin have reached terms on a buyout agreement and have submitted it for league approval

San Antonio remains a strong favorite to land Kevin Martin, according to league sources, but Dallas, Houston and Atlanta are also in pursuit

Good for both sides. Hopefully, milt is able to negotiate it in favor of us. Martin lose money but gets to be on a playoff team while we open up a roster spot now and next season and hopefully save some money and get more cap space.

Gotta give Abe a pass here. He might of said "by the trade deadline", but his point that KMart would not be on this team to close the season was spot on.

You can breath easier, Abe! ;-)

Its sad to think about it though. Martin was regarded as a good value contract 2 years ago. Now, we have to settle on a buyout even after we let everyone know he was available months ago. No one was willing to give up anything of value for him.

Yep timing is everything right? Wolves had bad timing for dealing Martin this year. The teams that wanted him didn't have salary (actually not many teams did whether they wanted him or not) that they wanted to dump to get Martin meaning those guys sucked. Of course it didn't help he didn't exactly light the world on fire when he played this year. If he would have been putting up his usual numbers maybe some team gets a little more excited and decides to pay a team to use their cap space to make the deal. At this point I just hope the roster space can go to some player that turns out to be useful down the road pretty much like you would have hoped to get from Martin in a deal.

Pretty classy statements from KMart about the organization:

Of course, he'll probably start hitting his 3-pointers now that he is no longer in Minnesota...

It did really feel like Martin was a good guy it never seemed like he was complaining about his situation demanding a trade etc. I know earlier in the season Jon K. said he wasn't really sure about Martin when he came to the wolves. he said though he quickly found out Martin was a quirky but good guy and he said he ended up really liking Martin and said if he decided he wanted out that he would be a pro about it and that seems to have been the case.
