I really like Jones.

From the Internet -

Yahoo Sports! NBA writer Adrian Wojnarowski tweeted earlier today that, "Among most active teams on phones: (in no order): Celtics, Pistons, Suns, Timberwolves, Hornets, Clippers, Pacers, Nets, Nuggets, Rockets."

Wait a minute Cam....you stress stopping the KG trade rumors immediately after you post trading for Joe Johnson? I can't think of a worse player in the whole entire WORLD for this Wolves team to trade for than Joe Johnson. I like the talent, but the contract is the worst in NBA right now. Can't get behind that type of deal for Wolves.

How about a guy like John Henson. He has been injured lately, but wasn't getting a ton of burn before hand. Since they lost Parker, maybe a Brewer for Henson deal works? He is still on rookie deal through next season, with extension required in 2016/2017 season. I like his defensive abilities, and he seemed to be progressing nicely coming into the year.

Okay, I'm listening (reading). Why would Joe Johnson be so awful for this team?

I don't see them getting rid of a young, cheap starter who seems to be improving and fits the scheme there for an aging backup with a limited skill set that doesn't necessarily fit the scheme at more than 2x the price.

I would like to see the Wolves take a flyer on a guy like Troy Daniels though. He's made the NBA because he has one skill (which he's doing very poorly right now). It just so happens it's the one thing the Wolves don't have right now.

And the Rockets are paying him only $800k.

I can't believe you are touting his one skill set that he hasn't come close to proving yet. He played in 5 regular season games and 4 playoff games last season. Four years in college and he managed to break 12 pts in only his senior year. Has looked horrible this season, and you want to take a flyer? What?

Only Glenn Robinson III makes less money than Troy Daniels.

Daniels took more than 650 three pointers last season between the D-League and the Rockets. He made more than 40% of them. He even went 8 - 15 in the playoffs. Granted, that's a small sample size for a young guy on the big stage.

But, considering the stakes, it might be almost as telling as the 39 total attempts he's had this season coming deep off the end of the bench for a very good team. He could be a one-trick gimmick that sucks so badly at everything else that he's rendered useless in the NBA. Or, he could be a viable threat behind the arc waiting for an opportunity.

For $816k... I don't think he's stealing money relative to his peers at this point.

[Note: Moot point anyway. With the way the Rockets and play... and the way the Wolves play... Daniels if he gets his stroke down would be much more valued by the Rockets than the Wolves.]

1) $25M next season for a player that potentially helps us win an extra 3-4 games.
2) Soon to be 34 year old player.

I actually like Joe Johnson....pre-2012. But the reality is that he has become a marginally impactful player that costs $25M. And many people will cite that he is a huge expiring we could use, but the reality here is that no one would/could make a trade work by gutting their team for a 34 year old marginal player (with the exception of maybe the Nets :thumb: ) The only way this is a reasonable deal for the Wolves is if we could include Pek and perhaps Martin and gain cap relief for year after next. Unfortunately, they won't want Pek or Martin either. Simply adding Joe to our lineup next season doesn't make an inch of difference for our future success.

I read something about him not getting along with Anthony? Anybody else hear this?

If true, the Knicks deserve their fate. They've hitched their proverbial wagons to a petulant superstar who gets into petty squabbles with bit players. The Anthony - Lin nonsense was downright embarrassing for Anthony and the franchise.
