It's almost like they keep track of a stat that measures how much every player adds to a team's success in the W column. Oh yeah, it's called estimated wins added above a replacement player. Love just happened to be 3rd in the league in that stat while being almost 4 wins better than the next closest PF in Griffin. Love's offense abilities are unmatched in the league right now at the 4 spot. His efficiency combined with his passing and rebounding while being a serious 3 point threat makes him clearly the best 4 who is also considered a big in the league. To ask a guy to do what he does offensively while being even a good defender is a tough task that few are able to do in this league consistently. Of the top ten scorers in the league, one is a great defender (Lebron) and I would only consider Durant to be even on good defender on that list. That's 2 out of the top ten that are even good defenders. This league is about buckets and Love is top 5 in the league in scoring for multiple years now. It's time to give up on the ideal that he also be a good defender. That is on the organization for not pairing him with a 5 that can cover up for his defensive flaws. Dirk didn't win a title until he got Chandler for a reason.

At the end of the day, Love wants to win and our front office messed up the chance to keep him multiple times whether it be the horrid contract Kahn gave him or the missed picks along the way. Love has every right to not want to be here. The owner dissed him, the GM dissed him, some of his coaches didn't believe in him all while he has become one of the most productive players in the league. I don't blame Love for having animosity to this joke of a franchise the last ten years. They completely dropped the ball and now we, the fans, are paying for their arrogance and stupidity. Taylor and Kahn are the reason Love wants out, not the city or the money. Kahn may be gone, but Taylor didn't do anything to patch up the bridge he almost burned down to the ground with his criticisms of Love over the years. Who wants to work for a guy that just keeps criticizing you when you are doing so much to try to make this team and city a winner?

Khans - Great Post. It's not the town, weather, or the money - he is just sick of these fuckups.

Khans, good observation about the top scorers not be good defenders but I think there's one subtle difference between them and Love. I agree that asking someone to carry the load offensively takes away from defense but there are times when you need a stop and most of those guys are capable of doing that. You're Dirk example demonstrates this pretty well, Chandler was a big part of winning but I remember Dirk coming up with several big steals and plays defensively when they needed them most. Love on the other hand never makes a big play defensively when we need it.

AD is alot like Kg was in his younger years. Not only super talented but elevated the players defense around him. If Love was on that team it wouldnt be worth shit. Kevins a great offensive player but aside from his unique skill to find the outlet guy( whos usually cherry picking to the detriment of rebounding/defense) he doesnt raise the level of play of anyone around him..

Sorry Pork, but Love made Brewer look properly compensated, helped open the space Pek needs to work, ran a good two man game with Martin and padded Ricky's assist stats. He made everyone better on offense. His offensive impact to his teammates was equal to or greater than the defensive impact AD provided the Hornets players this year.
