I am on the fence with Hayward. While he is a versatile player, the confounding thing is his 3 point shooting. Talk about a roller coaster. Goes from 47% - 35% - 42% - 31% over his first 4 seasons. And while PER is a bad metric to determine a players total value, it is a fairly good offensive indicator...and Haywards 16 is just above league average. If he could consistently be a 40%+ 3 point threat, then he becomes a much more valuable player in my mind. Maybe he gets more consistent, I don't know. It does seem extremely odd that his year-to-year percentages have fluctuated as much as they have. But the fact that he has already been pining for max or near-max money would be a stopping point for me. He is simply not impactful enough as a player to get paid that much.

Also, Utah already has Favors and Kanter, so I see no reason for them to have any interest in Pek.

Kevin Martin and some of the other SF's on the wolves for Josh Smith? He could be relatively available with Joe Dumars leaving may even be able to get Will Bynum with him. But this trade does make me scringe because he would then be the Wolves starting 3.... Not sure it would work Im actually 75 % sure it wouldn't work but It would be a fun team to watch, sometimes....

J. Smooth could also go for Pek if Monroe Leaves

Josh Smith has always been one of my least favorite players...everyone knows he can't shoot, except him. I'm not at all interested in having him on my team.

I'm not seeing why Detroit does that deal? They'd just move Drummond to center and Smith to power forward if/when Monroe leaves. What does getting Pekovic do for them?

I'd personally pass on a Smith trade, I'm not sure he would add what we need on the roster. I think there will be better options for the Wolves

Nothing the new GM most likely won't want him around

Gordon hayward would be nice. pek+bud+euro stash or 2nd round pick for hayward + kanter? Hayward has a down year shooting because he is the 1st option of the jazz term when he really is ideally a 2nd or 3rd scoring option. he is a better athlete, defender, ball handler and playmaker than martin.

The possibility of this happening might depend on if the jazz gets to land a top 3 pick in the lottery and are in a position to draft wiggins or parker. They might let hayward go if they land one of the 2.

The jazz have been down on kanter because kanter hasnt really develop into a legit nba starting center. Defense and consistency has been a flaw of his, he plays his best right now as a energy bench scorer and rebounder. It might be a good role for him with us with diengs emergence. A change of scenery and expectations might be helpful to him.

Love brewer dieng rubio hayward as starters with martin jj(or a new backup pg)kanter turiaf (defense) and luc(for defense as well) as the 2nd unit. Of course, we have the 13th pick to add another player and we have the mid level and could trade the expirings of jj,luc and shved for bench players. Shabazz will be in the mix as well.

Like worldK, I would make a trade with Utah.

Try and send Pekovic, Budinger, Barea (and a couple 2's if need be?) to Utah for Hayward (S/T), Kanter.

For us, I love it. Honestly, for Utah I like it a lot too. Pek/Favors frontcourt is tough. Favors may be good enough at protecting the rim for it to work out plus he can hit from 16 feet out. Wiggins/Parker would have to be there for them to do this deal, though. Burke/Burks/Wiggins/Favors/Pekovic is pretty damn respectable if Wiggins scratches his potential too.

As for including Barea, they are void of a backup PG and will have the cap to absorb the last year on his deal. "If they have cap, why don't they just sign whatever backup they want?" Who's signing with Utah? Blake, Augustin, Livingston, etc. will all find more competitive rosters to join than theirs. Barea might be good somewhere else, but his time is done in Minnesota.

Wolves outgoing money (roughly): $22M

Wolves incoming money (roughly): $17.5M

PG: Rubio
SG: Martin
SF: Hayward
PF: Love
C: Dieng

B/PG: MLE (Blake/Augustin/Hinrich)
B/SG: Draft Pick (Stauskas)
B/SF: Brewer
B/PF: Kanter
B/C: Turiaf

I like it. I like it a lot.
