I really like Monk as well but he's a bit of a chucker. Sexton over his career has shot at over 47 percent from the field and almost 39 percent from 3. Monk is at about 43 percent from the field and 35 percent from 3.
I was perusing the Hornets board and they were actually talking about a Naz for Sexton deal. They said they would even throw in a 1st rounder since they have a bunch of them. I would see about maybe a Naz and Miller for Sexton and Diabate and a 1st deal. Beringer takes over Naz minutes, and Diabate can be the backup to Rudy.
Trade season
Re: Trade season
If Naz goes out in any deal like that there would certainly be a first coming back to Minnesota. TC wouldn't be interested in that type of move, I believe.
Re: Trade season
Did you know the Kings currently have the first round pick we sent the the Spurs in order to draft Dilly? TC might be able trade NAZ and Dilly, sure up our bench with Monk and SloMo, AND get back the pick we originally used to get Dilly!
I just noticed that Sexton is Extension Eligible. I imagine a trade for Sexton would only be done if he agrreed to an extension. This make a trade for Sexton or Monk a complete coin flip for me. Which is a great position for TC to be in!
Re: Trade season
Totally agree. No way would I even consider Naz for either of those guys- that would just be ridiculous. There are plenty of solid guards that can be had without touching our top 7 (including Joan)Lipoli390 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 18, 2026 12:34 amNaz for Monk or Sexton would be one of the dumbest trades I’ve ever seen and I’ve seen a lot of really stupid deals, especially by this franchise.60WinTim wrote: ↑Sun Jan 18, 2026 12:05 amIt's my belief that both Monk and Sexton will cost NAZ and Dilly. That brings in an entirely different conversation: how untouchable is NAZ?Phenom wrote: ↑Sat Jan 17, 2026 11:46 pm The problem with Monk or Sexton is it becomes a 3 for 1 proposition unless you are putting Donte in the deal and that's not happening. Can the Wolves cobble together enough players to fill the roster if they trade Mike, Rob and say Lenny for one of those 2 and stay under the 2nd apron?
The salaries of White or one of the Jones bros or even Dosunmu is a much cleaner fit. The choice is likely a numbers game. If I had to guess White is out since the team will want to keep Mike around. Rob and Lenny for Jones, Jones or Ayo or some other similarly priced player is my bet.
Salary matches for either of the Jones brothers is fairly easy. Rob straight up for Tre Jones works as would swapping both Rob and Miller for Tre. Tyus is slightly more complicated but very doable. Getting Tyus shouldn’t cost that much. He’s about to turn 30, is not as good as Tre, is having a bad season and is playing a pretty crowded position once Suggs gets back. Before Suggs’ injury Tyus was averaging about the same number of Minutes as Rob. I wouldn’t give up Rob for Tyus. I’d offer Conley instead. I think they’d value a veteran PG like Conley who wouldn’t need to play much behind Suggs and Black.
I continue to hold the view that we should move forward with the guys we have and grab the best glue guy available off the waiver wire in February. I’d give Conley’s minutes to Dilly for an extended run over the next few weeks but have both Donte and Bones ahead of Dilly in the rotation. We’re in 4th place and lost two close games to top division rivals, one without Ant, the other without Naz or Rudy. We have a relatively easy stretch coming up that will likely tell the tale for this team.
If we are going to make a deal, I’d try to get one of the Jones brothers. Mike for Tyus makes a lot of sense as Tyus would probably be an upgrade over Mike given the level of Mike’s play this season. Keeping Rob would given him more runway here to become the player TC though he’d become when he drafted him for the Wolves or at least enhance his trade value a bit for an off-season deal next summer.
Re: Trade season
If we’re getting a 1st also, then I’d start to consider. I do like Sexton.Crazysauce wrote: ↑Sun Jan 18, 2026 1:16 am I really like Monk as well but he's a bit of a chucker. Its amusing to look at Spotracs recent successful trades. You can filter for a specific player. Rob is in a lot of hypothetical ideas and it seems other teams fans are very interested in Joan.

Re: Trade season
They shouldn't be interested in Joan. He's already proven he can play and he's on a cheap mid round 1st rookie deal. We also need him long term and even short term so we have zero reason to trade him. Unless he's packaged in for a vet superstar say Giannis, it'd be foolish. Why would we do it otherwise?
Rob actually makes sense for us and another team to trade, since he's still a talented player and two, he doesn't get minutes for us. We get a better player for the near term, while they gamble he turns out long term.
Re: Trade season
I've seen other team's podcasters toss around trade ideas, and some of them have included Beringer, although it's more for salary matching purposes than the player himself. All this does is get that fanbase intrigued and they start including Beringer in their trade ideas. As you said, Beringer is going nowhere, unless it were some sort of blockbuster trade, which isn't going to happen.Wolvesfan21 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 18, 2026 11:52 amThey shouldn't be interested in Joan. It's great to see Dilly included in a lot of trade ideas -- it means there is genuine interest by other fanbases. Dilly's #1 problem is his inability to get playing time to develop, and that's because the Wolves are firmly in win-now mode. A team that is tanking AND in need of a PG should be very interested in Dilly. To me, Sacramento looks like the most ideal landing spot for him. But there are any number of other possibilities, including Charlotte.

Re: Trade season
the biggest issue even then is that a tanking team also has its sights set higher at PG via the draft, so Rob would at best be a test drive for bad teams.60WinTim wrote: ↑Sun Jan 18, 2026 12:05 pmI've seen other team's podcasters toss around trade ideas, and some of them have included Beringer, although it's more for salary matching purposes than the player himself. The only way this ends is with 2 distant 2nds coming back or Tim's gonna have to buy low on someone and hope he makes another NAW (for example, he better see something in Devin Carter that Sacramento doesn't see).

More smoke coming from the fire. The Chicago Sun Times is reporting the Wolves are interested in all of Coby White, Ayo Dosunmu and Tre Jones.
