We will likely see a "vinyl" mode showing up on most music players to make the music sound richer, and add in the scratches and such... :)
I remember my first day of college (oh oh, might be revealing my age here)... but I arrived before my roommate. I set up the room with one of these types of things...
Moments before my roommate arrived, I remember noticing the turntable on top and freaking out... "I can't let him see that thing. That's sooooo uncool!" So I ripped it off and chucked it under the bed.

Khans, I agree with this. I'm also thinking that natural improvement from Towns and bringing Thibs will fix majority of our problems in defense and we might not need to try to get elite defensive big. I would still target to some cheaper guys like Cole Aldrich (has had his best season as a backup for Jordan), Jon Leuer, Miles Plumlee or Jason Smith to get some legit backup big since it is pretty sure that Pek won't play at all next season.

Just wait for the next Plumlee to enter the league. There's at least 12 more in the pipeline, right?
Don't get me wrong....there is still a huge place for digital music and the devices that play it. The convenience and sheer volume that can be stored and transported around is awesome.
But....I think people yearn for some "long-form" activities in their life. Opening up a vinyl album and listening to the whole damn thing while leafing through the liner notes, etc. That's a unique experience. Cooking a four-course meal at home. Reading one of the classics. Playing 18-holes of golf without a cart. Keeping score at a baseball game. Going for long walks. You get my drift.

LOL, what a monstrosity! I always thought equalizers were so cool, with all the little lights and slide-toggles....have no idea how much value they added.
Yes, whatever I end up doing on the hi-fi front, I definitely want a more elegant solution.
1. Placing value on any stereo/boombox simply by how slow and smooth the tape eject was.
2. My first car was an old, very high-mile 1980 vehicle with an 8-track with a very large adapter for tapes.

Problem is the versions get worse as they come out.

Funny story. Also, kudos to Abe for being the first poster here to include a photo of himself in his post...albeit just a reflection. Should we make self-portraits a requirement for continuing participation on this board?
Q12543 wrote:I think the reason vinyl has made such a comeback is that millennials (and nostalgic older folks) are realizing that listening to music can be a multi-dimensional process. The whole experience of taking in the album artwork, reading the liner notes, and then placing the record onto a mechanical device involves all five senses. Yes, even the smell of a new album coming out of the package. You don't really engage all five senses, at least in any sort of novel way, when clicking through a catalogue of thousands of mutually exclusive songs on some antiseptic digital device.
Now here is the irony.....I don't even have a turntable or stereo anymore! It's been years! Any suggestions for those of you that are audiophiles?
You nailed the reasons for owning and listening to records. I was always fascinated with my dad's collection so it was easy for me to get on board, and yes it can be an expensive hobby.
As for turntables try here https://store.uturnaudio.com/products/orbit-basic-turntable
When I was 16, I saved all my Bridgeman's money (yes, I am an older gentleman compared to some of you) and went all out. A DJ-quality Yamaha with neutral position, the works. I brought it with me to college because I had some Beatles, Zep, and punk like Pistols and UK Subs that I still wanted to use it for. I took my share of grief. Suffice it to say, when Goldie/FatBoySlim broke a couple of years later, I was seen as an innovator. I mention this because that rarely happens.
There was a store in St. Paul, Cheapo I think. Snelling and Selby. If it's still there, they may be a great place to find Vinyl.
