Smart doesn't do anything for me. The only player on Boston I want that might be available would be Jaylen Brown. Rumors last off season was that he could be had for the right price. He had a terrific season this year though, so he probably isn't available. I haven't seen what draft picks Boston owns, but they usually own several so I suppose if they throw in enough picks I would look at it.

The bolded is how I feel and there's a minimal chance he's available.

Brown and Tatum are likely their two untouchables.

What about Smart do you not like for this team?

He's not worth a number 1 overall pick and we have 2 discount versions of him on the team already.

The better question is what about Smart is worth trading the first overall pick for? Granted, I know you're suggesting a package deal, but he would be the headliner, no? That's just not good enough.

Not to mention, his role on this team is already filled by Josh Okogie and Jarrett Culver, albeit at a lesser level. Too much redundancy.

I agree to some extent Smart can play PG though and while I think there is a chance Culver can do it he hasn't arrived yet. It would also mean you could deal one of those guys for something else. If Ainge is trying to trade up...just pick the guy he wants right? Lol

Marcus Smart would come here and leave the same way Butler did. He plays a certain way and when he looks around and sees his teammates not giving the same effort he sees himself giving he'll want out.
He's a good player but not sure about the fit and definitely not the main piece in a trade for the first pick.

Wait, weren't you a big Ricky Rubio basher! Marcus Smart's shooting numbers are worse in every category and you call him a "good player."

I never said Rubio wasn't a decent player. Only that his shortcomings were really affecting this team. I mean was I wrong about the guy? He's gonna have a career where he probably plays on 6-8 teams by the time it's over.

Smart has some intangibles that I really like. He's tough and plays hard nose defense and from what I've seen can create a lil bit going to the basket. Of course I like him more in a sixth man role. I don't think he'd put up with Towns and D R lack of interest in Defense tho.

Onyeka Okongwu is really growing on me. Huge potential. And seems like a pretty good fit next to Towns both offensively and defensively.

Defensive versatility, excellent handle for a big, high motor and work ethic. Traits we need on this team.

Obviously would explore trading down for him, but I wouldn't be upset if we drafted him at #1.

There's like 8 guys I really like in this draft, including Okongwu, but none of them are worth a #1 pick. I might be more excited about #17 because I feel like we could find a player that is more of the complimentary role-player type.
