I can respect this take. However, when it comes to Rubio, my heart trumps my brain. And I think he will help more than hurt and certainly do more for us in the short term than any player we could get at #17.
Now I'm going to pose a real tough one for you Cam: Aaron Gordon or Rubio for that same package? Which would you prefer?
Obviously, I would have just stayed at 17 and picked. That's not what you're asking, but I needed to say it again.
And of those two choices, I'd lean towards Aaron Gordon purely from a youth, roster balance standpoint. I think Ricky Rubio is the better player today, but how many guards can you have before it's considered too many? Because we're there now.

Rubio. He makes a team better. Gordon hasn't done shit.
Though I do not understand compiling so many players under 6'5".
Morey just ran away from that. And I dont think it is all on the owner.

There is no comparison. Ricky's defense is so much better than DLO. DLO has been benched by multiple coaches for his poor defense.
Yeah 5 years ago you're right.
5 years ago i was right, 4 years ago I was right, 3 years ago i was right, 2 years ago I was right, last year I was right and now, I'm right. DLO is atrocious on defense.
So is Rubio. So slow. He's always looked great statistically relative to his shitty units.
Now you are being irrational. There isn't a single NBA coach, player, or front office person who would agree that Ricky is a poor defender....and certainly not as bad as DLO. Get a grip.
The one good defensive team he was on wanted him out. Every other unit he has been on has stunk. Great defenders elevate the team, Rubio has never been capable of that by any means and now he's older and even slower. I know his stans will never blame him for how bad his old wolves units used to be or how bad our d will be next year. He's always been seen in the rose by those who love him.
So the only way someone is a good defender in your book is if they drag the entire four guys with him? I guess that makes Okogie and Culver poor defenders as well then. It's odd that you hold him to a standard that is literally unattainable for all but a few players in this league.
