Preseason GDT: Timberwolves at Nuggets
Re: Preseason GDT: Timberwolves at Nuggets
So I just watched the highlights from the game last night. I want to point out one thing. I love Pat Bev. He got so excited for Bolmaro when Bolmaro had that last possession defensive stop. Pat Bev could be a legit culture changer for this team. I have also love what Prince has brought to this team so far.

I agree with you on both Beverley and Prince!

Vando, Beverly, and Okogie bring an element of toughness that I don't think we've ever had. Could be a culture changer.

I agree, Cool. For the past several years, it's just been Okogie with Vando just becoming part of the Wolves rotation late last season. Adding Beverley was a big deal. He not only brings defense and toughness as an individual player; he also has a synergistic impact. Suddenly, the qualities that Okogie and Vando already had are enhanced by the presence of Beverley on the court, on the bench and in the locker room. We also appear to be seeing Beverley's impact on Ant so far this preseason. I'll add that Prince brings a quiet toughness and maturity that will also help change the culture. And of course, Chris Finch seems like a no nonsense head coach who will hold everyone accountable and that is another culture changer.

I watched the game from last night, nice to see Nowell come through down the stretch. Hopefully that will up his confidence going forward.

Just watched the game I'll add a couple comments.
Prince has put together 2 good performances. I believe in McDaniels but if he does struggle and prince continues to play well he could end up being the starting SF.
McDaniels looked to me like he is taller than Porter. I also thought for a chunk of the first half he was doing a good job guarding Porter also.
I was listening to Denver's broadcast team. By land goes by Bones and that dude is quick and athletic. Bolmaro was all ove that guy. Bolmaro is going to have vets use his aggressiveness gain at him like we saw with Okogie earlier in his career but I also think Bolmaro has more experience playing against smart older players. Meanwhile he has that in between game that's nice especially playing with some other less offensive minded guys. He looks like he belongs.
I liked what I saw with Towns tonight. He went at Jokic but wasn't losing his mind. Both of those guys at times let people get to them. Neither really did it was fun to them and Beverly and Fauco got at each other. Lol
I'm a big fan of Vando and I believe he can still improve but these 2 preseason games show me why he has some flaws. He still struggles with his hands and he is still inexperienced.
Meanwhile Okogie if the Wolves could get him signed to an extension at a low/reasonable number based on these 2 preseason games they should do it. Dude brings energy defense physicality and edge and seems like he is putting together his greasy hits album. There might not be any too 40 hits but he might be putting together what is a very good defensive player. There have been wings in the league that have been very valuable despite not being off rice threats. If the Okogie we saw the last 2 preseason games on defense is what we are getting damn that's a nasty defender.
Speaking of guys with some edge and toughness Knight has some. A might be right he might do some stuff that's not the best but he goes after it and I think he has some legit talent also.
Wright looks like he can defend above average at the NBA level right now and that means he is playable.
Nowell...yeah he has to make shots but his ability to create space for himself tonight was high level. There was one play he got into the paint made a move and his defender nearly went out of the picture. Meanwhile there was multiple times he made plays defensively a couple of them were on Bol. I still believe in his talent.
Like other said Layman played well. One thing he does is defend at least adequately. He also had a key box out early in his minutes.
Cam Mentioned Naz Reid is a starting level player. I won't argue with that. It seems like his eyes light up when he gets the ball against some guys like Wolves 1st quarter Taj Gibson.
That twisting layup McLaughlin made on Bol reminded me of the times I have sized up and determined I was gonna beat the big shot locker and knew I could make it happen. It was a thing of beauty. Bol did show some good stuff in this game but he is still pretty raw.
Overall fun game to watch both teams got some end of bench guys in the game and played some tough minutes.
