Preseason GDT: Timberwolves at Nuggets
Is nobody else excited to watch some meaningless basketball!? Well, it's meaningless in the standings, but for our beloved Wolves it's another opportunity to put their new schemes into play and show if they can continue that defensive intensity they showed against New Orleans.
I'd like to see much better games from Anthony Edwards and Jaden McDaniels tonight. Edwards was great defensively in the first showing, but I thought his shot selection could have been much better and more aggressive. We need him to get to the rim consistently during the regular season.
I'm also curious to see if Chris Finch holds true to his word and starts a different starting lineup than the one we saw previously. Will Jarred Vanderbilt be the four next to McDaniels at the three? Will they opt to see Taurean Prince or Malik Basley in the starting five? And if they run the same lineup from the other night with Josh Okogie inserted, at what point do we become a little 'worried' that's the lineup Finch will open the year with?
The game starts at 9:00 ET. For those that don't know how they'll watch the game, https://scor.nbabite.com/game/denver-nuggets-vs-minnesota-timberwolves-live-stream-2/this link DEFINITELY won't help you out. ;)

Ha, what do you mean meaningless? Nothing is meaningless when it comes to our beloved Wolves!
I agree that I need to see more from our second year guys tonight. I want the same defensive focus by Ant, but I also want the shot selection he showed in the second half of last year. Take the wide open three by all means, but show that same ability to get to the rim that he showed in March and April. As for Jaden, he needs to be much better than he was Monday.
Rebounding has to be improved, and perhaps inserting Vando for Josh helps here. But we also need more focus on the boards from Ant and Jaden.
I want to see the same intensity at both ends from KAT that we saw last game. If we get that every game from a healthy KAT, this season starts look more promising.
But most important, and I apologize for resembling a broken record here, I want to see a game from Dlo similar to what we saw Monday. I thought he was as good as I've ever seen him as far as being a 2-way player. Do it again, D'Angelo!
A few more minutes from Bolmaro would be interesting, but I don't see it as critical.

Love it. This is the starting lineup most of us want to see.

McDaniels has been pathetically bad during this preseason so far!

Wolves having to dig themselves out of an early hole here. Might be a good thing to see how this group reacts to some adversity. Will they crumble or go on a run of their own?

Naz Reid is a starting caliber player in this league.

2nd unit played really well.

Pat Bev + Okogie might frustrate some backcourts this year on D.

Wolves get it back to a three point game here early in the second quarter after a 13-2 run. We have a game.

Yeah, seems like we have a few guys now that can defend at a high level.
