It's not happening but Rosas should be calling Ibaka to see if he could pull him away from Toronto and be our starting 4. I'd feel infinitely better with this team with Ibaka starting than Juan or any of our other 4's.

Yeah, they just aren't going to use the MLE on a vet big that Rosas would categorize as a Center. Don't forget that Naz Reid had a fairly promising rookie year and he's still young. He is a legit big on a cheap deal that is a serviceable backup.

Per 36#s.... 20PPG/9.0 RBP/2.5 APG/1.4 SPG/1.6 BPG/Net Rating of +0.7

Not sure how any of that holds up in a full-time starting role, but the fact is he did pretty damn well for a rookie big and that is certainly good enough to backup KAT.

Advanced stats like RPM and 538's RAPTOR metric were pretty favorable to Reid also. If his impact is anywhere near that the Wolves should just play him at least 25mpg every night maybe more. That's a big IF but I wouldn't hate to see Reid get a shot.

Yep. That's why I don't mind Juancho or Kaminsky. They're both better than Jerami Grant.

But technically, we have three of those already: KAT, Reid, and Spellman. They are all Centers in Rosas' mind, so I don't know why he'd be looking for a 4th Center, of which I suspect he'd consider Kaminsky.

The dilemma with KAT is that the ideal starting 4 would be able to be a good defender that could switch onto guards, help protect the paint, AND shoot 3's. That is really, really, really hard to find. PJ Tucker. Paul Milsap. Al Horford. Those are the guys that come top of mind and they are all getting long in the tooth and likely most interested in being with winners.

Juancho and Vandy may be the best we can do this year. Juancho can shoot; Vandy can pretty much do everything but shoot.

I don't disagree with any of this, and I would much rather see a guy in the mold of Stephen Adams or Clint Capela than a another shooter. I think we have enough mouths to feed, but need more rebounding and shot blocking presence.

Agree. I wanted Adams too but now we can't afford either. A Juancho/Vandy freak hybrid is the best we can do and hope Reid and KAT can provide enough interior presence

Yeah, the defense is going to be really shaky again this year. Vandy is a wildcard on that front and could help make us less bad, but I don't know if he has all the nuances and positioning mastered yet even though I think he has all the other ingredients to be an impact defender.

The last couple years there has always been a couple big guys left unsigned that would be cheap if you really wanted to sign someone In the mold of a big defensive C or had a need for one later in the season.
