Wolves Free Agent Targets

Post by Lipoli390 »

The Wolves have one roster spot open. They have just enough room under the luxury tax threshold to fill that spot with a free agent at the fill MLE, with no cap room left to sign Juancho and no roster spot for JMac.

The Wolves have to glaring roster voids to fill as I see it: (1) another big who can defend and rebound; and (2) a true SF. There are a number of bigs and a smaller number of SFs still available on the FA market who are unlikely to get more than the MLE amount from any other team. The Wolves could offer the full MLE to one of them, or split the MLE between two lesser options. Here's my list of the remaining bugs and SFs I think the Wolves should consider:

NBA FREE AGENTS

BIGS
1. Bobby Portis
2. John Henson
3. Frank Kaminsky
4. Alex Len
5. Jakob Poeltl
6. Dario Saric (RFA)
7. Harry Giles
8. Nerlens Noel
9. Cheick Diallo
10. Skal Labissiere
11. Willie Cauley-Stein

SFs
1. Rondae Hollis-Jefferson
2. DeAndre Bembry
3. Bruno Caboclo
4. DeMarre Carroll
5. Jeff Green
6. Kelan Martin (MN)

Interesting. I wouldn't mind that. He'd be a great veteran presence on the court and in the locker room. He's going to turn 36 in early February. I don't know how much he has left in his tank. But he was still pretty productive last season and could be a good veteran influence on our younger guys, especially Towns.

Bruno Caboclo is a guy that's intriguing. The block steal numbers the last couple years are pretty impressive. The size and athletic ability is something. Its a small sample but the shocking thing is he is career 84% FT shooter. he turned 25 in August. He probably isn't good but it seems like he would be cheap.

RHJ is a guy I would like as a bridge PF if he was cheap. I suppose a true cheap youngish defensive center would be nice but I'm not sure I see this team adding one and with Naz Reid on the roster I might be fine with that.

It will be interesting to see what Saric ends up getting. The Suns drafted their PF with Jalen Smith.

I wish someone do a thread on what we can get for Culver or Okogie thread

As much as I understand baseball FA basketball for some reason has always been hard for me. The only guy you guys have mention is Hunter from the Atlanta Hawks.

Hard to match contracts with Culver or Okogie, which is why Hunter is the only name thrown out there.

Frank the Tank baby. I've been pushing for him for a couple years. Great backup big.

What value do you see him bringing to a team and what would you pay?

He's a 7 footer who can hit 3s. Defense is average i think. Not sure what is last contract was. I think he could get solid minutes with us.

Thansk for the reply. FWIW he shot 33% from 3 last year. Just for fun his career 3 point percentage 34.7% is slightly worse than Hernangomez. I'm skeptical about him being average on defense.
