Yeah if they dont care about luxury tax they're better off keeping him. Defense be damned.

He could have simply signed in the offseason and the team he'd be joining wouldn't be so decimated.

Thanks for the reply. Here are some thoughts from someone who hasn't been paying attention much till the last few hours.

I'm not buying the Wolves were willing to give up their own pick in 2020 unprotected (I'm making an assumption because the author doesn't say). I'd guess that's what GS wanted and the Wolves said no...which according to Dane Moore in his podcast yesterday is basically the sticking point for the trade.

I'd guess Brooklyn's pick wasn't enough for the Wolves to trade Covington. I'd guess they wanted another pick/more assets...either to try and pry Russell from GS or just to have going forward. Are we supposed to think Brooklyn's possible non lottery pick is the thing that's going to make a team trade either Russell or Covington? How stupid are we supposed to be? Seriously.

Lip's guy John Collins could be had? Don't let him know. lol

I have heard all kinds of ridiculous trade offers. I can only see this as "the grass is always greener." I just don't see a huge difference between Wig and DLO. A first round pick that is lottery protected, I could live with, but nothing more.

Unfortunately we have another PBO who will always be negotiating from a position of weakness because he has implemented a system that players have to conform to, rather than getting a intelligent coach and letting him design a system around the talent that we have. There is no reason that this team shouldn't be competing for a PO spot right now.

KAT and DLO will never contend for a title, but once this deal is completed it will spell the doom of the wolves in Minny. Three seasons from now when this team has failed to win, we will see KAT and DLO crying about being traded and Rosas shown the door. At that point Rosas will have decimated our future on ridiculous trades to build around two incredibly soft players. We can only hope during that time, DLO's value in the league will be crushed.

Why on earth would you be looking at a guy that didn't want to play here? Rosas' answer is to sell our future to get him here anyway. Say what you want about Kahn, but at least he was smart enough to not force guys onto the team, that only wanted to get out.

Taylor finding a buyer is the only hope at this point.

Exactly.

DLO chose to sign with GSW over us. We would be mad to give up 1st round picks to get him here when we could have just potentially signed him outright six months ago.

Unfortunately that's what this franchise does. Makes bad decisions after bad decisions. 'Buy high and sell low' should be their motto.

I'd offer them:
Covington, Dieng and 2nd rounder for DLO
or
Wiggins and 2nd rounder for DLO

If they decline so be it. Move on.

"Say what you want about Kahn, but at least he was smart enough to not force guys onto the team, that only wanted to get out."

You must have forgotten about Kahn and Rambis Flying out and begging Darko to come back and play giving him a bunch of money and he was basically wanting to be done. So...no Kahn wasn't any better in that regard.

The Wolves have a lot of interest in Russell and Rosas and some of the guys he hired worked under Morey who basically calls and calls and calls and calls and calls and calls and calls and calls and calls and calls....you get the picture. Just because you are aggressive doesn't mean you are just going to give up everything to get what you want. The Wolves may have to find what GS wants in the deal. They may need to be creative. It might work. Remember the Harden deal took lots of time to end up happening. Russell isn't like my to be the next Harden...he might be more of the next Kyrie but I can see it making sense to go after him. He is playing a big role but playing with crappy talent around him and...his efficiency has gone even higher.

I think Wiggins has the higher ceiling, but at this point it's crazy the think he'll every play at that level with the consistency they need from him. DLO has his shortcomings for sure, but what he does he seems to do well and with consistency.

If KAT and DLO give them two consistently great offensive players they can focus on defensive players who are good but don't need to be great on the offensive end. It's the Wolves so I don't expect it to work, but at least they'd have players who could be counted on to do what they do every night.

With Wiggins they'll always have a chance if he's interested that night, but they'll never be able to count on it.

Why would you want someone insane enough to choose the Wolves and Minnesota winters over the Warriors and California weather? Clearly, that person would be certifiably insane!!! I'm only half joking... more like 1/4... or 1/8... or less.

Not sure where the begging came in, or the bunch of money.....

I am not sure what the time frame has to do with anything, but the situations were completely different. Harden refused to sign with OKC, and got traded to Houston. Russell refused our offer, and went on to GS. Why go out and pay substantially more for a player who just rebuked our offer a few months ago.

I don't know why you think DLO plays consistently on a nightly basis, and calling him a great offensive player is just plain wrong. Maybe above average, but I wouldn't go any further than that. Wiggins, at least is a competent defender, while DLO doesn't even make an effort most nights.

I would have thought he would have chose us because he would have a larger role, KAT was his good friend, and he would be starting next season. Is Russell so stupid that he thought he wouldn't get traded?
