Well the numbers went down, but the efficiency went up. As did his defensive numbers

The real key factor of the discussion of this trade was Love was hurt we saw the Cavs give a fight to the best/deepest team in the league. We saw the Cavs play meaningful games WITHOUT Love so it's easy to imagine him not being there because...he wasn't. It's also pretty easy to wonder if Wiggins would have been more helpful especially offensively than the guys the Cavs had out there in the Finals plus TT playing extremely well after Love went down.

Tristan Thompson does some things pretty damn well. He's an energy guy who hustles and can rebound. Plus, he can guard the rim a bit and in space... which is pretty rare.

But let's not get too carried away with "extremely well" when he did a couple of things great... and ignore all the stuff he can't/didn't do.

The guy went 1 - 9 fg for 4 points combined in the first two games of the NBA Finals. That was in 88 minutes of playing time. Overall, he was about a 10 ppg / 11 reb guy in the playoffs.

You are right I should have qualified that "extremely well" comment as playing well for his role (and staying in his role). I do think some people got a little too excited about him but he was causing problems for teams in the playoffs with his offensive rebounding and energy that went beyond the box score.

by extremely well you mean Lebron going 1 on 5 then missing but TT gets the offensive rebound and gives it back to James who does something crazy, then yes your right. I think Love might of been able to do a little more though

What we should do is go back 2 years ago and look at most of the people on this board suggesting that the only players they would trade for Love were guys like KD, Lebron and CP3. Those were the days....

I dunno. I think there are some here who were much more infatuated with Rubio than Love. I think the Love is a top 5 player wagon had plenty of room on it.

TT will never be able to do a coat drive like Love could. I am sure the Cleveland area is excited for skill he brought more then anything he does on the court.

There's still plenty who think Rubio is/can be a top 5 PG

Man I just don't think he can do it without Pek. Thanks for a reason to watch those coat videos again some of them are pretty epic.

If Love was on a long-term deal I still wouldn't have made the trade in hindsight. If you just look at what could have been. I still am a big believer in Lavine who is on that team regardless. Two potential moves. One that should have been made and one that is hypothetical. Gobert over Dieng. Then the hypothetical with us still getting injured this year and end up with possibly Winslow around 10.

Ricky
Lavine
Winslow
Love
Gobert

Vs

Ricky
Lavine
Wiggins
N/A
Towns

Khans has a pretty compelling case. If we want to go really crazy on hypotheticals, what if we went Giannis AND Gobert over Shabazz and Dieng? How about this lineup:

PG - Rubio
SG - LaVine
SF - Giannis
PF - Love
C - Gobert

Holy shit. That might be a top 3 defense - even if Flip were coaching!
