Flip didn't take Gobert because he knew he couldn't have 3 rookies on Adelman's team. It sucks, but Flip knew Adelman wasn't going to play them and they would waste away on the bench in a year we needed guys to get us to the playoffs or Love was out. He didn't do what a GM should and go for the best talents available. He took two guys who he thought could provide an immediate impact if they played with Bazz's scoring ability and Dieng's veteran college status theoretically making him nor ready for the NBA.
I put it more on Adelman because Flip took a shot at a star with Lavine this year. I think if we weren't under such pressure last year to make the playoffs, maybe we end up with Giannis and Gobert. This is why you take the best talents available. You never know what position your team will be in by the time they are ready to blow up.
