Anthony Davis - $29 million a year, holy hell. If everyone is getting paid, he deserves the most, but still...
Danny Green's 4 year 45mil is too much for a 3 and D guy. Yeah he's good at it, but he's getting paid like one of the big 3 did all those years in SA.
Brook Lopez - Will wind up being the worst deal. The nets would be smart to send him off to FA and see if anyone will even touch him. $20mil a year for him amounts to about $1mil per game.
Thad Young - Nets pay themselves into oblivion. When will they realize they need to stop paying 3rd tier guys like 1st tier guys and go into complete overhaul??
We can't compare today's salaries with yesterday's salaries.
The cap is going up $20+M next season. We've already seen escalating salaries even though the previous highest jump was $7M. These teams can offer these larger-than-we'd-think contracts and still have room for one or even 2 Max guys next season.
It's fine to compare these new contracts to each other... but it's comparing apples to oranges if we're using previous contracts as a guide.
Do you think it is important for the Wolves to show dramatic improvement this year so we can attract our own max guy next year?
No. If all goes well... the Wolves already have two max guys on the roster. Only they don't have to pay either of them for at least 3 more seasons.
The Wolves don't need to be in the market for a max guy. The fanbase is happy enough with competency and hope for the future...

Yes, it would be nice if the next steps for this franchise is to find the right coach and role players to fill out the roster. We won't know for at least another year or two if we have our "stars" or not.

I'm surprised the Spurs traded Splitter. I always thought the post Duncan era was going to start right out with a Parker/Green/Leonard/Aldridge/Splitter starting 5. Maybe they needed to cut a lot of salary to be able to sign LA. I think Splitter's a good pick up for the Hawks. After all these years we'll finally see what Horford looks like as a 4.

Yeah it was a salary dump move in order to offer LA the max.

Nice list of some of the deals so far.

You can add Kevin Love to the list.
Smart move by him to return to Cleveland. He "proves" he really is about winning... and if it doesn't work out, he knows how NBA trades work.
The Cavs kinda had to do it too, right? Even as a Finals team, that's a big PR hit if Love leaves and they gave away Wiggins for one regular season.

I'm a little surprised about the Love deal. I guess you can't believe everything you read - except STOP signs.

Toronto adds a nice piece in DeMarre Carroll and at a price less than Tristan Thompson. That will really hurt Atlanta.

I'm glad Love signed in Cleveland given that they traded Wiggins to us. If Love had walked, I think that might qualify as the most lopsided trade of the decade.

Did TT agree to a contract?
