I wonder if part of why the Wolves let him go was they thought he might have an opportunity elsewhere. With Naz and Randle back Garza made less sense than back a year or whatever agonwhen we though Naz might leave and Garza could be a scoring big to help fill in that gap. Meanwhile the Celtics lost Kornet and added Garza. Different players but that's not all bad either. Celtics might need some scoring.
Yeah, like Minott, Garza might have requested his release. The Wolves did just draft two players that will displace him in the near future anyways. And if his agent had an inkling he could find interest elsewhere, the request makes sense.

I liked Luka. I will miss him and his stunningly attractive girlfriend and sister who sat across the aisle from us.
