Will they sign Minott to the other 2-way contract and fill one of the remaining two roster spots with a veteran big? If so, who will that big be? These are the burning questions for the board right now.

I posted this in the Rivers thread: I'm confused about the number of remaining roster spots. I think I'm assuming Knight will be signed as the 4th big, and probably not on another two-way -- right? If so, does that mean the only spots left are the two two-ways? Or is there a roster spot for Minott?

Lip, you seem to think there's a roster spot for Minott ... I think that'd be a good move, as long as he can spend time in Iowa. He's a great talent but definitely needs significant seasoning.

I also posted this: This team is again remarkably deep, now with more veterans that have playoff experience. The team also seems well-situated to absorb the minor injuries to key players that usually happen in the course of the season. Is that the board's sense as well?

I'm assuming Knight will come back on another two-way. It would be the last two-way he's eligible for. No one will be knocking down his door to sign him to a vet minimum and he's apparently happy here. That's how I come out with two remaining roster spots after the Rivers signing.

I'd give one of those two to Minott - locking him in on a long-term, team-friendly deal like we did with Nowell. Locking up a high-upside young talent like Minott is particularly important now after giving up all those draft assets for Gobert. If Larry Brown was right that Minott would have been a lottery pick in a year or two, then locking him up long term would be akin to having back one of those 1st-round picks we just gave up for Gobert. The equation changes in our favor each time Connelly hits on an undrafted free agent or 2nd-round pick like Minott. The key is to lock the good ones in long term so the Wolves can eventually reap the benefits to their development.

- Dennis Smith Jr
- Kevon Harris
- Mac McClung
- or a blast from Connelly's past, Emmanuel Mudiay?

I really liked what I saw of Harris and McClung from summer league. I know folks on the board were pretty split on Harris, but he can shoot 3s, plays tough defense, and was about the only Wolves summer league player with the grit and confidence to step up when needed.

McClung was G league MVP and rocked his summer league opportunities.

No idea what's going on with Smith or Mudiay. Smith just had a work out session for the Wolves, Knicks and a bunch of other teams. Mudiay is still only 25 but couldn't catch on with the Kings after signing a 10 day last year.

If the Wolves can sign McClung to their other two-way deal, they should absolutely to that. But I don't see McClung signing a two-way deal with the Wolves. Too many PGs ahead of him on the regular roster. And suspect another team will offer him a regular contract. Or some team with limited PG depth might be able to sign him on a two-way. I think he'll end up on a two-way with Golden State.

Take this how you will but Wendall Moore changed his number from #15 to #7 today. So in my Brian Windhorst voice "why would he do that"

Just saying Booige has been #15 the majority of his career and Connelly signed him last year. Boogie on his way to MN??

Kek - That's brilliant! You should start an on-line sports column and podcast: "Geek Scoops". I just hope your voice isn't anything like Windy's. :) Honestly, I think you're absolutely right on what's about to happen.

Rumor has it he's switching to 20, which was his number in college at Memphis. He couldn't take 20 when he was drafted since technically Josh Okogie still had it.

Hope that number doesn't carry with it a shooting jinx. :)

So here's the Wolves roster as it stands right now with the age of each player when the regular season starts:

1. DLO - 26
2. Edwards - 21
3. McDaniels- 22
4. KAT - 26
5. Gobert - 30
6. JMac - 26
7. Nowell - 23
8. Prince - 28
9. Kyle Anderson - 29
10. Naz Reid - 23
11. Bryan Forbes - 28
12. Austin Rivers - 30
13. Wendell Moore - 21
14. Josh Minott - 19

That roster is really talented and deep! It's also a young roster. There isn't a single player on the roster who is past the age when players are generally considered to be in their prime. A few of them -- Gobert, Rivers and Anderson -- might be considered on the tail end of their prime, but they're definitely not in the final waning years of their respective careers. KAT and DLO are just entering their prime while Edwards, McDaniels and Nowell are at the point where talented young players often take off and begin to approach their upside potential.

I'm done talking about the merits of the Gobert trade. This roster is definitely something to get excited about as a Wolves fan! And if Kekgeek's reporting is accurate, Boogie Cousins may be on his way to fill the 15th spot. :)
