RUMORS!!! Keeps the NBA relevant 24/7/365...
Shams suggesting Charlotte would take on Westbrook and his salary. Wiseman would catch A LOT of lobs.
Would that sort of move push Charlotte to move up for the top pick?

I always defended those close losses as "bad luck" whereas others blamed the players for being "not clutch". The reality is they had a bunch of close losses in the beginning of the year - 0 and 11 to be precise - but then after that went on to go 6-2 in close games. Many of those games were still very much relevant to our playoff hopes, so this wasn't just in the waning days of the season.
Bottom-line is that no franchise can be this bad without a combination of managerial incompetence AND bad luck. That season was bad luck IMHO.
Love was just a turnstile on defense. He got boards, but he did little to contest shots or make the offense earn a bucket. Pek wasn't good either.
KAT I know we like to harp on his lack of defense. He's too far on the other side where he tries to block too many shots, commits too many fouls. All he needs to do is move his feet, stay vertical. Stop fouling.
I don't know what is worse just letting guys lay it in or fouling them. Love's defense was probably worse.

I remember those arguments, too.
Love would have something like a 34/15/7 game and Rubio would go 5/4/7 and 0 - 3 fg in the 4th... and Love would take the lion's share of the blame. Good times.
As noted already... despite Love (and Pek?) being "worse than Towns" on defense... that team was Top 10 in defense until the last week of the season when there was nothing to play for.

Pek was a very solid defender. He held his ground on the interior and could hold his own on perimeter switches. Pek + Rubio gave us a solid duo at the point of attack and the interior. Love and Martin were more problematic.

Yeah. I was being a bit facetious.
Pek wasn't a liability on defense. Not entirely sure where he'd fit in today's game though.

Your probably right that at the time of post up defense, he was pretty solid. He was decent rebounder, more so on the offensive side. Now he shifts cocaine for profit. lol

If they got Westbrook what would they have left to land the number 1 pick? Or vice versa. That team has next to nothing on it. They have Graham and PJ and the rest is pretty meh.

It's not going to cost much of anything to get Westbrook at this stage of his career and with his contract.

He was worth Chris Paul just last year and his play didn't fall off a cliff. I don't see Houston just taking a ham sandwich for him. I haven't seen anything saying they are looking to just blow everything up.

I know Pek would probably struggle as a defender especially depending on who was around him but I would pay lots of money to see if he would crush the modern game on the other end. The guy was really really good at his game. There were some really good centers at that time that have said they hated playing against him.
