Trade #1 to Charlotte for #3 and Charlotte's 2022 (unprotected) 1st.
But why stop there? This is supposed to be a three-man tier at the top, but each has polarizing potential and legit downsides. And there are prospects later that offer great promise. So... trade down again... this time from #3. Get more assets.
[Note: This also helps in justifying the Wolves choosing Haliburton. I'd like to see him in a Timberwolves jersey.]
I don't ever really understand these trades. Why is Charlotte giving up an unprotected 1st round pick to move up 2 spots? Completely unprotected picks don't get sent out often and when they go with another top 3 pick it's for a superstar caliber player. The Mavs saw Doncic as a star and even they only gave up a protected first round pick along with Young. I just don't get where these trade ideas come from because it's not reality.

Fultz for Tatum had an unprotected 1st attached to move up 2 spots.
Agreed it's a little rare but it's happened in recent history
And the pick in the Doncic deal was only top 5 protected. How much Charlotte would give up obviously depends on how much they covet a player likely to be unavailable when the Hornets pick at #3. Recent reports suggest that the Hornets really like Wiseman and expect the Wolves or Warriors to take him. I think it's more realistic to expect a top 5 or at least top 3 protected 1st in return for flipping picks with Charlotte. If I were Rosas, I'd do the deal and take Okongwu. If the Wolves do that deal, I think they'd draft Toppin.
Another variation on that deal might be Miles Bridges instead of a future 1st. That's probably less realistic than a top-5 protected 1st rounder, but it would be a great deal for the Wolves in my view.
I'm officially on the Wiseman bandwagon. I watched some of those instagram vids and he looks like he could be really special. That and I don't trust what I've heard and read about Edwards or Ball. When I hear motor issues just after we got rid of Wiggins I just can't draft a guy who may not play closer to full bore. Especially on the defensive end. Both had struggles in that area.
Is Wiseman a sure thing to me? No not like I wanted Doncic. But I'll take my chances with him. He looks more like the best option.
Additionally, he did play three games of D-1 ball and it didn't require a 30-game sample to see what he can do in live action games. If you just watched him against other D-1 athletes you can tell he stands out the second you see him move around out there.

To be fair a couple of those games the guys he was playing against weren't exactly anywhere near the cream of the crop. I'd personally like to hear more from what people (Experts or otherwise) saw from him in team USA.

Well, thanks to the magic of the internet, we can get a feel for how he did there. Here is an article with some brief clips...
The more I read about and see clips of Wiseman, the more absurd it is to me that somehow he isn't a clear cut #1 pick. I think the ONLY reason is because he played three games last season. But nothing he did in those three games disproved the original #1 pick tag given to him previously, so I'm not sure what gives.

Q that's a bit of what I was getting at when I asked about what he did on team USA etc. Ball is an intriguing player but it's not like he blew anyone away with his international play and quite frankly hasn't proved himself much more than Wiseman. Edwards has a nice season and is talented but is he really like THAT amazing?
So like you said...what gives? I'm still not all in on Wiseman but what exactly is keeping Wiseman from being THE guy? People afraid to base their take on basically what he did before college? What if he was coming out of HS? Weren't people really in on him not that long ago isn't hat regard? Fran Frachilla seems like a guy that is mostly positive about guys but is also not shy about pointing out a flaw. Did he change his mind Months after comparing Wiseman to a HOFer?
Are teams misleading anyone they can to hope to pull something on someone? Sam V. Of the athletic reported a few weeks ago that he got the sense that Wiseman had never actually dropped below team's radar as a top pick unlike some reports had a couple months ago. I'm still hoping for a trade down for a nice return but if you are all in on Wiseman now...hmm I may have to rethink that.

He's not the clear cut #1 because that's how devalued the Center position is in the current NBA. His ability to create off the dribble and his 3pt shooting are up in the air right now with not much tape on him which are huge factors in evaluating if you can be a number 1 guy or not. The biggest worry is if he is just a good PnR big that's just not what teams want for a high pick. If he just ends up as that guy and either Ball or Edwards become on-ball offensive scoring/playmaking guys he's going to have to be a game changer on defense or else it's a failed pick. If this were even 5 years ago this wouldn't even be a debate.
