What do you do with the number 1 pick?
We've had some good discussions regarding the possibilities with the top pick and what to do with it. This is just flat out what are you doing with the pick. Not what you think Rosas will do.. If you are the GM come draft night what are you doing with this pick?

Re: What do you do with the number 1 pick?
I'll start out. I'm taking Wiseman and it isn't close for me the more I sit on it. I've made arguments for Ball and Edwards in the past and gone back and forth and ultimately I just want to do what Stan Van Gundy said. I'm gonna form a fucking wall at the rim with two 7 footers and make you beat me with 26 ft jump shots. I'm telling my perimeter players to sell out contesting shots on the perimeter with the intention to funnel those offensive players right into 2 7 footers at the rim. The league is about dunks/layups and 3's and I'm just full sending at stopping the shots in the paint from being efficient and if I lose to 20+ 3's made by hot shooting so be it. I would have loved to have kept Covington in this scenario and had a huge front court of 6'9/7/7 but I'll have to figure out something else at the 3 spot. Rather than consistently trying and failing at getting elite switchable wing players that are extremely rare in this league I'm doubling down on making life a nightmare at the rim and limiting possessions by grabbing every board.

I'm trying to move down for Okongwu at #4 or best available. We could pick up another bench asset or future pick. If Wiseman is the pick at #1 I'll support it but not my preference.

There's no surprise here with my choice. I'm taking James Wiseman for all the reasons that I've previously mentioned. You either bend to the what the rest of the league is doing, or you do what you can to make the rest of the league bend to your will. Small ball is running rampant and a counter to that strategy is to play bigger lineups and dominate these teams in certain areas -- offensive and defensive rebounding, second chance points, points in the paint, and interior defense (blocks, altered shots, contested shot percentage at the rim, etc.). I'm in favor of that.
Wiseman brings a rare physical profile to the table and a blend of skills that are unique to seven-footers even in 2020. I think he has a chance to be special and if not for missing out on the majority of his freshman season at Memphis he would be looked at as the blue-chip prospect in this draft in a way that Zion Williamson or Anthony Davis was. Additionally, when compared to the other perceived top draft prospects in this class -- namely Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball -- I feel like he has the best probability to become a great player. There's massive bust potential on both of those perimeter players meanwhile Wiseman is practically a lock to at least be a double-double machine with a couple blocks per game.
Give me the massive "unicorn" frontcourt and fill in the pieces around them afterwards.

So Cam you truly believe Wiseman is a no-brainer #1 overall pick like the other guys you mentioned? If so remind me what I'm missing. If you feel that strongly I'd Truly like to hear what you've seen from him that makes you feel that way. You are suggesting Wiseman has a chance to be a Star on offense. That's more than most are willing to claim. If what you think is what the Wolves see...I think the wolves will take him because damn you don't turn down a 7' guy with that type of skills etc. I'm excited to read your response.
Re: What do you do with the number 1 pick?
I'm one of the three so far who would trade down. Like BizzarroJerry, I'd target Okongwu and another valuable asset - good role player or future pick(s).
But I'm not going to complain if we end up with Edwards or Wiseman.

In a perfect world, trade down. Unfortunately trading down this year just feels like running away from making a tough decision since the return won't be worth it.
If I had no other choice I'd take Wiseman because I just think there are guards at #17 who id feel more comfortable taking than Edwards.
I'd rather have Wiseman /Maxey than Edwards /Pokusevski
I'm viewing 1 and 17 as the combo deal that it is.

In a perfect world -- where the Wolves can't acquire an All-Star player for their picks -- they'd draft James Wiseman first overall and use some combination of 17, 33, Omari Spellman, Jacob Evans, and Jarred Vanderbilt to move up in the draft to nab Devin Vassell.
That's a perfect world. I'd lose my mind if that were to happen.

Trade down.
Re: What do you do with the number 1 pick?
I trade down if i can get a starter. If not I take Edwards with a slight edge over wiseman. Id be happy with either player at one if we keep the pick.
