We hold the cards. We should give them a year with DLO together.
Unless someone splashes with a huge offer there is no reason to trade. I would build the team moving forward with a plan of him being dealt.

Minnesota should be hunting for Devin Booker to complete their version of the banana boat. Selling off pieces including Karl-Anthony Towns isn't even on their mind right now.

Agreed. Do you think the 1st pick and some other pieces are enough?

Probably not right now given the Suns going 8-0 in the bubble, but it all depends on Booker. If he wants out... he can get out. And then the Wolves' assets will look more attractive.

I think the Wolves should be hunting for talent that can help make the Towns/Russell duo the core of a playoff team that develops into a championship contender. I don't care whether it's Simmons, Beal, Booker, Edwards, Wiseman, Okongwu or Vassell. Truth is, it's highly unlikely (probability near zero) that the Wolves can acquire Simmons or Booker to pair with the KAT/DLO duo. I see Beal as the only remotely feasible possibility. The only question is how much it will take to get him and whether, the price will be worth it.
Rosas gave up the organization's 2021 first and second round picks to get DLO and he has put all his chips in on building around KAT. If those two aren't good enough to at least get this team to the playoffs with the right role players surrounding them, then Rosas has failed already and we ought to bring in another PBO to deal KAT and DLO to start a fresh rebuild. Yes, I'd love to have another star, but the chances of that happening are minimal. We purportedly have two stars and it's up to those two players to start playing like stars they're supposed to be. KAT's closer than DLO to that level, but he needs to improve defensively as we all know. Ultimately, it's up to Rosas to put the right players around those and the right coach to blend and lead all of them. That is the focus he should have. Yes, make inquiries into the possibility of acquiring Simmons, Booker and Beal. But beware. Trying to make a big slash in a small market can end badly and there's little precedent for success using that approach in markets like ours.

I agree. Flip told me that he was the lone voice in the Wolves organization opposed to trading Marbury. Flip's argument at the time was that winning can cure just about any player dissatisfaction or chemistry issues. He knew that KG and Marbury were going to be a winning combination. I'm not sure he'd be as certain about KAT and DLO, but the same principle applies. If KAT really wants to leave now, that could change if he and his close friend DLO have success here together. If not, then KAT is every bit the weenie Butler essentially said he was.

Yeah. I think she's likely going to tear him apart. I can't picture her wanting the quaint Minnesota life.

I actually think it's the other way around. Tristan Thompson cheated on Khloe Kardashian with the girl Karl-Anthony Towns is now dating. But it's whatever. Most NBA stars live in Los Angeles or wherever they want to during the off-season. Winning needs to be the motive for him to stay in Minnesota.

In an ironic twist... Minnesota is the losing-est franchise in NBA history!
