Sabonis is a guy a lot of us here liked in his draft year. He's turned out even better than expected. Yet another defensive impact guy that doesn't have an elite body or athletic profile, but instead uses smarts, a strong base, and good positioning.
It will be interesting to see if Rosas shows us any sort of flexibility in his "system", i.e. will he be willing to pair KAT up with a legit big man?

Another thing you could question is whether or not they think they could have Sabonis develop into a 3 point shooter. Below is his shot chart from last year. He has some decent percentages on long 2's and doesn't seem to have taken many corner 3's. What if they think he could possibly make the jump at some point? I'd have a hard time passing up Sabonis for any type of reasonable deal. Remember how bad people thought the Paul George trade was? Remember how bad Sabonis was his rookie year? It was REAALLY bad even the rebounding. so Indiana ended up with Dipo and Sabonis for Paul George. Even though Dipo has been hurt thats been a pretty good trade for them.
